Hey all,
first post here, I assume this has been asked but I'm just after a quick and clean thread
we've recently got our hands on a 1997 323 1.8l DOHC. 1) we have no compression apart from cylinder 1. 2) the timing belt has cracks throughout it so that needs doing.
I wonder if it'll be cheaper/easier to swap it for a running one or better all round to just swap out for a KZFE or something? at the moment we just want it running as a backup car/the partner wants to learn manual mainly, but changing that timing belt seems like its gonna be worse than a boxer engine haha
Any help would be greatly appreciated

long term we're looking at 13b/rwd swapping it when we have the time and money regardless of how stupid the idea is
TIA
