Hey all,

first post here, I assume this has been asked but I'm just after a quick and clean thread :)

we've recently got our hands on a 1997 323 1.8l DOHC. 1) we have no compression apart from cylinder 1. 2) the timing belt has cracks throughout it so that needs doing.

I wonder if it'll be cheaper/easier to swap it for a running one or better all round to just swap out for a KZFE or something? at the moment we just want it running as a backup car/the partner wants to learn manual mainly, but changing that timing belt seems like its gonna be worse than a boxer engine haha

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) long term we're looking at 13b/rwd swapping it when we have the time and money regardless of how stupid the idea is

TIA

If your do end up swapping it I'd be interested in the 1.8 engine if it's going cheap enough. Looking at options to swap the 1.5 out.
