Anyone here ever take out the stereo and storage slot to put in a double din screen unit? I'm tempted to get a cheap unit, 60-80 euro off ebay or joom or whatever and put it into my ba, it's very appealing to me but would like to know if anyone here has done it before? If it's worth it and so on.

I did it and it's pretty easy. You have to cut a plastic piece that's behind the single din stacks in order to fit the double din, because it's just in the middle, but it's easy.... I've done it with a strong scissors, then I've addapted the double DIN rack to the radio so it could fit (asian products, always oversized from what they tell you) and then (after addapting the cables and all the stuff) push the double din rack with a screwdriver if you don't have any strong plastic thing to push it in, and it fits perfectly. I'd post some pics, but I don't have at the moment.

I installed 2-din on mine and it has a bit of a gap on top. Yours has this, too? Anyway to fix this?

I've been trying to find one roll of a sponge like self adhesive seal, that are used to seal some sinks.
I've used it before for other people's cars(for rattling and squeaky plastics in the cabin) and it gives results. It's black, so it won't be obvious what it is.
And you could put it at the bottom end so it lifts the 2-din and fix the gap at the top. ;)
If i find it i will make a picture so you understand me better.
Good luck!
