For me it was just undo the big bolt, a small block of wood and a hammer. It came out quite easy both times.

Hi mate and welcome :D
All 3 of my BA's have came out with no problem, however when I was removing the CV joints from the hub on my breaker I found them to be impossible to remove. :(

In the end I had to use the power of my hand and brute force (sorry that didn't sound right) but you get what I mean, get a mallet and smack it till it pops out. and it will. :)

You might damage the front of the CV joint and as a result you wont get the hub nut back on, so you will need to buy another CV joint (£20/£30) but you normally get a new boot and hub nut with them.
If you do bugger it and have to buy a new joint put a little bit of grease around the teeth of the joint so that it slides on easy and wont seize in the future when you remove it.
Also do this if you manage to get it off.

Hope this helps :D :D

Hi people and thanks for the replies, Still no success, cant afford to replace cv joints if they get damaged, both sides are well solid, already spent around £170.00 on parts for mot I cant justify spending anymore so it's time to get rid :( been a good car in the two years I've had it only issue a misfire caused by a faulty HT lead, time to ring the scrap man  some of the replies made me chuckle :D

What's your location and spec of the car?
If the car is in fair nick and you're in the right area someone on here might take your car off your hands

Put the nut on the end so you don't damage the end of the shaft, then get a mahoosive hammer and hit it really hard. But then you still may not be able to get the cv joint off to change the boot, so do what I did. Remove the whole driveshaft from the gearbox. In your case you will need to take the hub out as well. Once it's out you need to remove the knobly end that went into gearbox, this is pretty much just a circlip holding it on. Remove that then you can slide off both the inner and outer gaitors. Slip the new one on and refit it all. It's only awkward putting the clip back on the inner gaitor when you refit the shaft but it's a better option than scrapping the car

Tried hitting shaft with Blunt end of a big axe made no difference, thought about removing all the drive shafts like suggested, on having a good look round car I found more faults, water leak, needs at least one brake calliper, rear bumper need reaffixing, so decided to scrap car in the end, a sad day but not got the patience to mess around anymore, maybe its an over forty thing

Tried the big hammer trick and I mean big, shaft didn't even move a mm, further inspection revealed other faults so sold the car as I could not justify chucking anymore money at it, shame really as the car was solid, only issue I ever had was a misfire caused by a knackered Ht lead. Don't know what car to get now I've gone of Mazda a little. Thanks for the help offered, Sean

If all you wanted to change was the boot then you should have just put the boot on the other side of the drive shaft.

Remove the drive shaft and hub together from the car completely, remove the circlip from the end and slide off the bearings (dont loose the clip) then remove inner boot, remove offending outer boot or cut it, slide on new outer boot onto the joint behind the hub then rebuild!

Sorry i know its a bit late

Thats what i had to do when my drive shaft and hub refused to seperate.

I'd have used a sticky boot in this situation. Done properly, these can last quite a while.

Interesting, we had the same problem while doing lee and Nathan's GTR conversion to full disks, that was three years ago, we broke 6 pullers, it was given the Birmingham screwdriver treatment, attacked with the gas axe and subjected to a 30 ton press, never moved more than 3mm, I believe the guys still have it actually, ended up replacing the hub and shaft in the end!!!!!!!
