Only just saw this now. I've been trying to get in touch with the renewals team today. I requested a call back which I got promptly. Luke then passed me through to the renewals team but the girl couldn't hear me. I called Luke back and he said he'd get someone from renewals to call me back. They did but I was on another call so they left a voicemail. So I've not spoken to them yet. I've found a quote that beats the renewal price from Sky by £98 although my initial reaction to the renewal price was one of pleasantly surprised. We'll see what happens.

On a side note it's so much easier doing all this when your car isn't imported!

Just got the call back and got everything sorted for another year. As I said I did find a quote cheaper than Sky. Sky then reduced their quote. It was still £50 above what the other company quoted but I requested a call back from them and I never got one. If they can't even do a simple thing like call me back to take my money then I don't want to be insured with them. So Sky it is for another year. :thumbright:

This.

I feel exactly the same way, if a company can't be bothered to return a call, I have no confidence in their ability to sort me out if I ever need them after an accident etc

Sky quoted me high this year, but I managed to get them down £50 against the other, so another Sky renewal for me too.

Great stuff, thanks for the feedback.

I agree with call backs but from the other side of the fence, often customers give wrong contact details/have phones switched off/do not answer. I'd give a company a couple of opportunities.

Kind regards

They definitely got my correct details. And It's possible that I was on the phone when they tried to call. Highly unlikely because I don't spend much time on the phone but possible but then they could have left a voice mail. I'm 99.9% sure they just didn't bother to call.

£426 renewal quote for this year.

Call Flux = £354

I was very surprised to know they beat Flux above with a very nice £332, I was surprised they managed to get this so low but they found a way! Thanks guys, I'm impressed with the quick turnaround and most importantly the price.

Once slight thing I will add though, you weren't able to quote me fully comp like Flux were, but I'm not complaining as I have a great 3rd party quote anyways.

Cheers!

This is undoubtedly a weakness. I remember being really annoyed that I bought a car on the Saturday and couldn't insure it until the Tuesday because of a bank holiday.

I understand staff need holidays but bigger companies always have at least skeleton cover. Whether Sky is too small a company to do this or if it's a money saving measure I don't know but if I didn't already have a policy with Sky at the time I would have went with another company too. Another thing that annoyed me was I'd spent literally hours on the phone over that long weekend and at no point did the recorded message say the office was closed for any reason. Just that my call was in a queue and would be transferred when an agent became available. This was extremely frustrating and that's putting it mildly! Although Ollie did say he'd raise this issue so it may be a thing of the past. I'm not sure.

Sorry to hear that Marc but there isn't anything I can do about this. We are open 9am - 1pm On Saturdays. Most of our broker competitors operate similar working hours to ourselves.. (not always possible of course) but plan in advance, call us Friday or Saturday and we can make provisions for you to be insured when the car is picked up.
I buy cars often, always over weekends, never a problem to sort out the insurance cover in advance.

So...I arrange to look at a few cars over the weekend, when I am off work...what should I do, arrange insurance cover for all of them...just in case?

It is fine if one is picking up a car after paying a deposit previously etc, but if it's a case of calling someone Saturday morning, going to see the car, and snapping up a bargain before someone else does, I need to buy it and insure it there and then!

While I have you, can you send me proof of my NCB please, I'll need it to transfer it to my new car, as my BJ insurance is due to come to an end, and it will stay un-insured at the workshop.

I buy cars often, always over weekends, never a problem to sort out the insurance cover in advance

I'm not sure what you want me to say Marc? Although one further suggestion would be to use http://www.insuredaily.co.uk .

If you require your NCB then please drop me a polite PM with your details or call the office on tel: 01707 642552

Thanks

Ollie

Just renewed my insurance for the wives car with Alex Kinrade @ Sky Insurance. With it being an import most companies are a pain in the ass but not Sky.

Almost £100 cheaper than my original quotes, easy to speak to, helpful and sent out my cover note within a minute!

Thanks Ollie, Alex and everyone else at Sky Insurance. :)

Unfortunately, you have let me down...again

I sent you the details. You did not reply...instead I got a call from someone else there, saying I needed the policy to be cancelled or lapse before I could have the NCB sent to me. Well duh, yeah of course. I couldn't call you, as, yet again, you are not open when I am at home and available to call you. So, nearly a week goes by, until the Wednesday when you are there a bit later. The simple reply was "post us the certificate and a covering letter"

Why the absolute f*** could you not have told me that last week, either as a reply to my PM, or as part of the message left on my answer phone? :x
You have wasted a week, not me, so send me my NCB details immediately upon receipt of my certificate. You know it's coming, so get it ready, I will not accept any excuse.

Hi Marc,

you sent me a PM, I arranged a call straight back, we left a voicemail message for you.

NCB cannot of course be sent until policy expiry.

With respect, it has taken you a week to call us back.

I'm happy to deal with polite requests but I am not here to be sworn at or abused. If you have a query or request please contact the office.

Thanks

Ollie

Really?
Do not assume that just because I can get on the forum, I have access to a phone. Do you work in the defence industry? No, you don't. I am not even allowed to take my mobile into the office, and cannot make personal calls on the landline. So, I had to wait until you are open outside my working hours.

The delay is all down to you. A reply to my PM, or the voicemail message itself, could have easily contained the info I needed. I assumed, after being told to call you, that I needed to call you to resolve the issue...but that wasn't the case at all.

Hi Marc,

I'm sorry to hear this, our telephone number is 01707 642552.

Feel free to call us, when ever you are able to. I would usually be happy to help but again, I am not here to deal with people swearing being abusive or sarcastic, politeness (frustration at the your working hours aside) goes a long, long way.

Thanks

...and so does common sense.

the question still remains unanswered...why didn't the message contain the relevant info?

Marc,

can I ask you something, as you seem to be quite keen to put the blame on us as you are unavailable during our normal office hours...

If you had a query with regards to the voicemail, why didn't you PM us, post here or email us?

Communication works both ways. It was you who left it a week after receiving the voicemail to contact us. It is all well and good having a pop at us on your car club forum, sitting behind a computer screen but I feel your energy would be better spent trying to help yourself.. eg, ask for time out to make a phone call, ask a partner/parent to call on your behalf, email us, PM us, post here. You have all the options available. Short of coming down and knocking on your door out of hours, I am not sure what more we can do for you, to be honest.

Thanks
