Hi, I'm thinking of turboing my F, but I need some help. I want to use an original, exhaust- and intakemalifold, but there are not many around. Does anybody know if the manifolds of a non-F 323 will fit my Z5? Thank you in advance :D

Why use the original exhaust mani? It will not fit...

And you know this is quite the project right?

guess he must be an expert at turbo's if he's called Turbo King!

however, read through this thread
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=47157

might help you :)
projects to copycat:
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=8781
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=33663

turbo, intercooler, oil cooler and piping can be found on ebay.

ecu:

you must use either the above or another form of piggyback as the original ECU does not have an EPROM-chip and thus is not reprogrammable
I have read some of these threads, but thank you for your help! What I am looking to do, is doing something that really can't be done, I'm not into this for the hp. I have talked to some who say a turbo pressure sensor from a saab 900t would be a good idea to power a fifth injector while running larger injectors on a lower pressure. Do any of you know what specs are on the original Z5 injector and what injectors would a good idea to use?

I'm sorry, but i won't be turboing my Z5 anytime soon as i don't have the money. I have to upgrade the brakes and struts for it to pass EU-test, (UK MOT) and I'm not that rich. :(

Yeah, turbo'ing isn't a cheap game unfortunately. Not with everything else that needs uprating at the same time.

However, I might be able to at least start a conversion (making the manifold, piping etc.). But I need to know how much of an upgrade the brakes need? I am thinking of converting to disks in the rear, and maybe installing ABS. But the front brakes are the trouble here, i would like to keep them atleast the original size so I don't need to buy new wheels (Though it might be impossible due to my orginal thirteens only having a few mms of clearence). I would also like to have the 4 stud pattern, due to a resent purchase of some goodlooking rims.

When keeping the 13s there isn't much todo... the v6 hub carriers and brakes and stuff will need 16s...

But that would be enough for normal street use, maybee you'll have them cooking a few times, but It's
allot better then the 1.5 brakes. I get them cooking allmost each day... Then again speeding and
the motorway is involved. And you don't have that many motorways over there... Then again maybee you'll
need better brakes on the Norwegian roads more then the motorway.

You'll need 16s for the V6 brakes, 14s for the 1.8 brakes (13s wont go over them, trust me )

I recommend fitting the 1.8 front knuckles at least, for the easiest brake upgrade.

That was what i was afraid of :\ But thanks!

If i use the V6 brakes, is it possible to keep the 4 lug pattern? Or is it better to use the 1.8 brakes and upgraded quality discs and pads? (and discs in the rear, even if they rust to hell each winter)

The v6 brakes are 5-stud, but you might be able to find a set of discs in 4x100 with a 54.1mm bore of the same specs from another manufacturer. For the rears, you can use MX3 or BG GT rear discs, as they're the same specs as the BA V6 discs only with 4x100 54.1 fitment instead of 5x114.3 67.

All this information is already on the forum if you do some research

I will update when I know what to do, and when I get parts.

It's not scattered, the forum is divided into sections for a reason

Take the information I just gave you about brakes - go into the Guides section, into the "List of links to guides", there's a guide which I wrote explaining fully how to do a rear disc conversion

We like to help people on here, but we don't like to just do everyone's work for them - at least make an effort to search

I am aware, and very grateful for your help so far, but I don't want you to do unnessesary work. I am going to thoroughly read each topic, and if I need any more help, I will ask, thank you, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

I would just go the whole hog and turbo a V6 instead. You'll get bored of the 1.5 turbo and want something faster.

You can get the discs of a Mini Cooper, almost the same size in 4x100. :)

I've got a similar problem, but I try to fit the driveshafts into the v6 hubs. But, I'm not sure if it really fits as I didn't had the time to try it until now :(

In a while, you'll read all the information about the brakes in this topic:

Mini cooper front discs would fit, but I'm not sure what the depth is - needs to be 45mm I know that much  every other spec would "fit" though :thumbleft:

The depth of the BA discs is 48mm, the depth from the Mini Cooper discs is 44mm, according to www.ebcshop.nl :) So the wheels would come 4mm more to the inside, or you'll need to fit 4mm spacers :D

Actually not quite - if the depth was 4mm greater, you could fit 4mm caliper spacers (dangerous if you ask me!). as the depth is 4mm less, you need to either fit a 4mm spacer behind the disc (again, dangerous to me!) or machine 4mm off the caliper mounting points (even more dangerous!).

EDIT: To confirm, BA discs are 45mm deep, not 44mm, but 1mm should be within tolerance of the caliper sliders I would have thought :thumbleft:

BA 4 cyl disc specs:

Diameter: 235 / 257 (1.5 / 1.8)
Thickness: 22
Min thickness: 19
Depth/Height: 45
Bolt pattern: 4x100
Bore: 54.1

I belive these would do the trick:

http://jeroentje.nl/index.php?page=prod ... d=70104720

However, they cost the double of what I can get the turbo + accessories for!

And what do you think about these:

http://jeroentje.nl/index.php?page=prod ... _id=810443

(Might not be exactly these as these are very ekspensive...)

Yep, not cheap, although to be honest, brakes are something you shouldn't really cheap out on

Bit of advice though - if there was a cheap and easy brake conversion, I think someone would have done it by now ;) so you'll most likely struggle to do much with your brakes, other than perhaps swapping the front knuckles+calipers with 1.8 ones so you've got 257mm discs instead of 235mm.

Exhaust looks alright, not quite my thing, but would be far cheaper to just get one made up by a powerflow/longlife dealer. And you could get exactly what you wanted then rather than settling for readymade parts ;)

True about brakes, but I haven't looked at any other suppliers yet. And yes, I was thinking of asking a lokal dealer, because they are quite cheap and reliable.

Bore: 54.1
Sorry, I'd only looked at the V6 model :p
