bravo Howie, another fine addition to the car, looks like it's a performance OEM filter cover now :laughing6:

Cheers for all the positive comments :D :D

I have been wanting to upgrade my original speakers for a while now, to make the most of my Pioneer head unit. 8)
had been considering Infinity's, but when I started looking round the only 5"X7" were from America. :(

After much searching and advice I went for some Hertz 5"X7" front and 6.5" rear.
Ordered these from Caraudiodirect.co.uk, very good service - arrived next day

Image

Fitted them over the weekend,
no pics mounted in the doors, just a couple of comparison shots:

Image

Image

The fronts went straight in, just needed a bit of adjusting to mount the rears. ;)
The tweeters are designed to be rotated to focus the sound at the listener, with the point of the silver arrow on top aimed towards the seats 8)

Have noticed an improvement in the the sound clarity, especially at volume. :D

Many thanks to Marc, Shayne, Mark T and Dazza for your help and advice with choosing and fitting the speakers :notworthy:

Wanted to add this pic of the speaker wire colours from my F, for future reference,
when I looked up the colours they only corresponded to the front left on one diagram and the rear left on a different diagram

Did sort out the + and - eventually:

Image

Front Left: + Purple, - Blue / Orange stripe

Front Right: + Green / Yellow Stripe, - Red / Yellow Stripe

Rear Left: + Orange, - Yellow

Rear Right: + Orange, - Yellow

:D

Cheers, no, unfortunately the orange doesn't show through very much :(

But I'm happy with the improvement in sound quality and keeps the mods subtle, like the rest of my F ;)

Nice one Howie :)

You missed a trick on the airbox lid though ..

Image

.. you could have filled in the bit around the edge of it to make keeping it clean easier :)

I might have to copy this ... another 'probably will never happen' mod for the list! :?

..... and ... dirt in you alarm hooter!!! ;)

Well done :thumbright:

A few more pics from me, gave my F a good clean up last weekend:

All ready for a 3 hour trip up to visit Dazza last night:

Then today I took Daz for a trip over to Meguiar's head office in Daventry :D

We had a tour round and met many of the helpful people who sort out my shop orders and answer any detailing questions too. (Y)

After tea and some biscuits I took a few more pics outside:

And finally a reflection from my rear spoiler, pointed out by Dazza ;)

Had a great time giving the V6 a proper run and enjoyed my visit to Meguiar's,
as well as being made very welcome by Daz and his family too, many thanks again. :D
