got a mystery rattle seems to come from the back seat on the drivers side area when driving - can't remember when it came about but it's annoying the hell out of me - I've tried the window the boot panels the the back seat locking latch even the spare tyre cover -

anybody got a rattle like this? Or any ideas?

yeah i got a rattle but it comes from both sides and it came after i lowered it - comes from somewhere behind the plastic side boot covers

yo peeps it mite be the rear window wiper cos i had a rattle too from sumwhere behind found it at last dou! :P

are you perfectly sure its not the heat sheild coz there is a heat sheild that runs under the back seats.

I 'll check out the heat shield but when I think about it it does started whne I had mine lowered - and it does seem to coem forom the boot cover that's excatly it!

My car hasn't been lowered though...

Right, Went for another test drive today with ALL the boot covers stripped off and all the contents of my boot removed. Got my mate to drive while I sat in the boot listening.

Straight away it was obvious that the loud metallic rattling sound was coming from somewhere behind the rear suspension housing.

I am definate that it is linked with the fact that the noise came exactly the same time as it was lowered.

Will get my mechanic to have a look because it is seriously doing my head in

I'll let you know what happens... might be getting fixed tomorrow...

Exhaust knocking on the back axle?

If you have a tail pipe on the drivers side it could be knocking against the backbox heat sheild - I had to cut the corner off of mine.

Okay, mechanic had a look while he was replacing the discs&pads and rear brake hoses.

It turns out that I was right about where the noise was coming from...

The mechanic explained that because the apex springs are thicker than the standard springs, they do not sit in the rubber(?) aswell as the standard ones used to and this causes the springs to loosen and tap against the vehicle body around the suspension causing the rattling sound.

Thats what he said to me anway

He kindly refit them and its a lot quieter now, but I don't know how long they will last before coming loose again.

The knocking noise connected to my steering- That was caused by a seized caliper!!!

Just got to sort out the torsion bar linkage arm and the tracking and she'll be perfect once again!

If I were you I'd get somone to make sure the springs are sat in properly cos mine are fine now!!!
