Hi all, just a quick question. i got a 97 323 BA, when my window is rolled right down and i shut the door the window rattles and its the same for the passanger side to. just wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

Mine does it as well - I think it's a 'feature' you're gonna have to put up with.

I havent had this problem yet so my idea is..


Tighten up all the bolts that hold the window in place and hold the mechanism in place....

Yeah i have this drama aswell and ive checked that all my bolts inside the doors are tight,so its not that

Rubbers and seals?

I guess these are the problems you are destined to have when you have frameless doors,theres not much support there for the window

Can't see why it should be so different to framed doors once the window is down.

Mine does it aswell, think its just age and the style of the window :S

Is It defInatley the wIndow? there Is an armature In the door, attached to the lock that rattles. It's supposed to be kept In place by a rubber washer, but these seem to break up pretty quIckly hence the bar rattles.

Same here. i just end up leaving the window up a few millimetres from full 'down' and that seems to negate the effect a little.

i thought that it was just the way the window 'settled' once it was all the way down and not 'held' in any half-way position by the winding mechanism..... perhaps the winding mechanism even releases the window when it is all the way down, hence the rattling noise as the window is actually loose at that point... ...just guessing anyway.

Mine rattled while up, so I stripped the inside cover off hoping to find something loose that I could tighten, I didn't find anything but I gid smear the runners with the thick grease that had accumulated at the bottom of the runner and reassembled the door. To my pleasant surprise it seemed to improve things quite a bit, not sure if it was the grease or refitting the panel that sorted it out but its a lot better now.
