Just had the tracking checked and adjusted (front and rear - yes it's adjustable all round on these cars!) and my steering wheel is now out of alignment (doesn't sit centrally) so here goes - How do I (safely) remove the airbag unit and steering wheel to realign it by one notch (assuming it has many "notches" like most Japanese stuff)?

Any help appreciated as I don't fancy one of these buggers going off in my hands - been burnt by one in a previous accident and it wasn't nice!

The way you are talking about centering the steering wheel is not the correct way to do it, and will leave you with more lock one way then the other, the correct way to do it is to centre the steering and then adjust the rack to the centre. Any garage should be able to do this, but make sure they are gonna do it this way as some cowboys will charge for doing it this way but infact do as you want to and recentre the steering wheel.

On the other hand, it may be possible that the garage that did your front alignment did not centre the steering wheel before they made the adjustments.
