This might make me sound like an idiot or something but how much should i expect to pay for a 54,000 mile service? the one with the timing belt change? I rang my local back street garage who said they would service and do the timing belt for about £100, but when i rang Mazda they wanted £450! Now im not tight with the cash or anything but that seems like im being ripped off!!! I mean, what are mazda going to do that my local garage wont???????

I am in the same position mazda want £480, out of that £170 is for the cam belt and the 2 hours labour on the cam belt (£65 per hour!!!) I am going to a repituable garage and having the works done for £300.

Dealer services are worth naff all on 98% of cars over 3 years old

servicing your car is not about just changing the cam belt it includes fuel filter change, gearbox oil, antifreeze, brake fluid change & lots of other items & takes @ 4 hrs if done properly. as for doing 54k service for £100 a doubt if they would do all the same jobs as a dealer or specialist.

I think the £100 was just for the belt change not the service as i had mine done for £102. My local dealer said a full 54k service was around 5 hours @ £65ph plus VAT, so that £382 labour alone they then want parts on top My local non-mazda garage want £25ph+VAT which £147 saving me £235 and the parts will be cheaper

Not saying mazda dealers are no good just too expensive

I'll have to check with the garage.... mybe £100 was just for timing belt change and not the service......
