Think you can remove More Than from the list. Thay refused to give me a quote on the grounds that the car is modified. And all i have is lowered suspension springs.

try www.moneysupermarket.com they will search all the companys for u and giv u the best price and its is usually a cheaper quote than wat u wud get from the companys site.

Same with the Halifax.

I find Adrian Flux are as good as you'll get on a modded car.

For me, with everything declared, they were £90 cheaper than Halifax, who were pricing without mods!

You shouldn't have to that far mate - just say you're "common law" man and wife. Not sure exactly what it means, but I got money off the insurance before we were married with that one - you have to have been together for a couple of years. You can't go out, pull a minger, get insurance and them dump her (no offence intended ).

Tesco's were about £200 quid cheaper than the quote I got from Flux! And thats all mods declared on an import (which many import "specialists" wouldn't insure/didn't know what it was/could do it but only through Norwich union and the quote "would be silly"!)

I personally think half of it is about luck at the end of the day. I've tried things like putting in for 2 quotes online, one at my address and one next door but everything else the same, and the quotes could vary by up to £100!

At the end of the day (i'm pretty sure) it all goes through Lloyds of London anyway and they will insure anything you can imagine, so any decent broker can get you a quote for anything, if they tell you they can't there sh*t so not worth bothering with!

I phoned Norwich Union to let them know about my recent mods - they said they wouldn't class the uprated shocks or uprated suspension bushes as mods, but wanted £20 for the alloys for the rest of the year (2 months!!).

To top it off, it was an Indian call centre so I had to say everything twice and so did he

rang norwich union today to amend my policy with deatils of forthcoming mods. i was infromed they only allow 3 modifications!!!! - looks like im being bullshitted

If the first quote's too good,. make sure you've got it in writing ...

I phoned Norwich Union to let them know about my induction kit and there did seem to be an issue about it being a fourth mod and she had to go and check with underwriters about it. It cost me another £20 for the rest of my premium - 2 months!

So for alloys and induction kit - £40 for two months!!

sounds like you had a similar problem then Mark. lets hope a better 'more clued up' company can beat my renewal qoute when the time comes!

spoke to norwich union yesterdi about my renewal, they were quite competitive but they wouldnt let me do my planned z5 to bpt comversion, spoke to adrian flux n they got me my current best quote for renewal as well as a decent quote on the car with all the proposed (4 No.) mods on. both quotes were from the same insuarance company as well.

Don't forget to get your discount from Adrian Flux as a Club member (15% + £20 in to club funds) - see discounts section (there's a special direct dial line for club discounts).

Be ware though, I only sent the paperwork this morning (I only got it yesterday).
