Your clutch pedal sounds the same as i had, (search the forums under clutch pedal) with mine the weld on the clutch pedal housing had snapped giving me the same problems, maybe worth a look under your dash to check it out.

Yeah - I had the same problem as Tiswas - fixed it by making a big washer out of 4mm steel and used a bolt and nut through the lot. The problem lies in a bracket (that's welded to the firewall) that the clutch pedal bracket is bolted to. On mine, the metal cracked where a threaded plate (like a square nut) was welded to the bracket. If you have the same problem, you will see the clutch pedal mounting bracket moves up and down when you push the pedal; it's not supposed to do this !

Thanks Tiswas and Smotter i'll keep you posted.. the bloke said something about a bracket failing on one side.. I asked about welding he said no can do loadsa of plastic under there..

So he's gonna phone me back with an exact figure later lads but he reckons a couple of hundred quid !!

Yes lads i'm back in business after first quoting me approx 200 squid i mentioned what you lads had said on the forum.. 30 mins later he phoned me back and said £40 to fix

The metal around the nut on the bracket had failed like one of you said.

So they done an arrangement similar to what Smotter had done by putting in extra steel and rebolting

Works and dream and no more flaming sqeaking as well ..maybe that was the sign it was about to go


So anybody else if the clutch pedal starts to sqeak and then gives way when depressed..you may have the same problem

When mine went the chap who did it took the whole housing out to weld it, he also re-plated it, so now it is stronger than it was before.

Glad you got it sorted, i think i paid £45 so your price was ok
