idea: now run a separate coolant system with an oil cooler and small inline motor.. pump coooollldd fluid through it?
doubt the performance will weigh out the extra weight added.. however the air sensor if a hot wire system (new type) (pretty sure these engines are too old) monitor air temp and density aswell ;)

Right so out with the new and back in with the old.

I put the tubes back and noticed an instant improvement in my idle, it's back to normal, also not really noticed any difference in performance either it's a little smootheras well, ah well we tried!

Before anyone comes back telling me it's not what's happened to them this was MY experience with MY car.

Mine is back to normal, but it didn't fix my hesitation symptoms  I've figured out, it only does it after starting the engine when it's already warm. Putting the clutch in, giving it a rev, then driving normally cures it

Glad to hear yours is back to normal again Porl :thumbleft:

And Cheers huggles, might be a difference between the engine sizes, what with Daz gaining an extra 30bhp and all ;)

your hesitation might be down to your idle needing adjustment?
i assume you've already done the gnd-ten trick? maybe it'ts time to play about with the TB?
however firstly i would say clean everything like sensors, maybe even take the TB off and hose it in brake cleaner? something might be slightly sticky?

Already adjusted the idle, throttle body is already clean (cleaned it up not long ago).

I plan to remove the IAC and check that on a multimeter at some point this week.

this morning noticed that the idle was a tad high. personally i thing it's because the choke is kept open longer because without the coolant passing through the throttle body, the IAC takes longer to warm up.
however, didn't notice any performance decrease (or increase for that matter  ), but the little things make the difference!

The coolant warms the IAC yep, wait until a cold winter morning, it'll be activated for a very long time. The reason I removed this mod from my car.

Done this on my V6, as its been running a touch hot. The V6 the water pipe comes from the rear cylinder head, to the front side of the TB, then another pipe heads to the EGR valve to do what ever it does there (heat it up or cool it down anyone?). So simple mod is take pipe from cylinder head, and connect direct to the EGR valve.

Took 3-5 attempts of setting the idle but finally got it running fine now. Initially the usual idle problems arose - too low, then too high. You can cure this with the ten + GND idle setup although it does take 3 or more attempts.

Runs well, easy to put back in the winter.

Don't know. What do auto throttles look like?

I found it logical mates, and I was desided to gave it a try! This days in Greece the temperature is around 40*C so the results whould be seen from the first kms! So after a month, I see no perfections... Only more time to rich the engine's working temperature with a result? More fuel consumption with no reason. I think it's only a waste of time mates!!!

while i was polishing my throttle body i thought i'd take some pics of the manifold to help clear things up...

i dont know much about the workings but the manifold seems to be split into 4 isolated cells.

yellow - engine side air
green - intake side air
blue - oil?
red - coolant.

as you can see the coolant cell is so small it probably wont have much of an affect after the oil warms up...

i'm guessing the IAC motor adjusts flow between green and yellow cells to control the idle? but im not sure of the purpose of the oil and water. there does seem to be another motor/valve/sensor/something in the coolant and oil cells. does this control another valve to control cold idle?

i thought that hence the ? after the oil but it seemed very oily in that chamber. picture is after i've cleaned it a little (the coolant chamber had those red crystals i've seen around a coolant leak)
