What is the size of the front door speakers? I just want to slot an Alpine 2 way straight in as the originals are terrible. The grilles look like 6x9s but I'm sure they're not.

Also can anyone give me a quick guide to removing the door trims so I can replace the speaker.

Thanks

Neil

The front door speakers are 5x7inch,the trims arnt that hard to get off,its mainly clips and a few screws depending on the model you have

there is no problem fitting a 6*9 there, i just trimmed it a littlebit then i put an anti rusting resedo on it and voila, just make new screw holes to screw the speaker in, just dont get a 6*9 wit an too big magnet, it will hit the window when its down

Thanks for your help.

Asked my local car hifi specialists (good install dept, average sales) about this and was told that there wasn't a straight swap available. I would need an adapter that would allow me to fit a 13cm speaker (sounds a bit small to me).

I don't want massive volume, I've got a decent Alpine head unit/changer and just want something that will sound ok. I don't want to spend more than £50-£60 on the speakers and would ideally want a trouble free installation - although I don't mind drilling some holes for compnent tweeters if necessary.

Any ideas on a semi decent straight swap speaker?

Thanks again

Neil

Better use ovals to get a bit more bass from the doors. I have Caliber competition series 5"x7" and they aren't expensive and fit nicely. Some owners would want to use sound deadening materials in the doors for a better sound.

does anyone know the size of the back door speakers as well ?

6" i believe. maybe 6.5"

The ones in the rear doors a 5" 1/4 inch, I know because i ordered the wrong ones for mine!!! I have a set of infinity 5 x7s (front doors) for sale if anyones interested!!

Hi

What infinities are they and how much you want for them?

Im trying to get the correct size speakers for my back doors at the mo. I've got a 1997 323 estoril. Dont know if that makes any difference or if the sizes are generic to all models. You think that they would be 5 1/4 too?

I'll let the speakers go for £30 + whatever the postage is.

They're still sealed in the box!

The model No is: 6802CF, 60Watt and 180Watt Peak. I think all that generation of 323s had the same size speakers in the doors. Mines a 97' ZXi

I still haven't got round to getting the replacement 5'1/4 for the rear!

Ok Ok I think I am getting there with the speakers etc....

But....... can anyone tell me what the maximum depth I can have for the front speakers so that they don't foul the window when it comes down ?

Please someone must know, I have seen some nice 5 x 7's and the depth is about 56mm, I guess that should be fine :S what you reckon ?

Cheers

i reckon that if you already have them, go and fit them. Then see if the window knocks. If it does, space the speaker out with washers.

I measuered them. You can get away with a 2 1/2 inch depth, from the back of the cage to the rear of the magnet. As a stop gap I've slotted in some 6 inch rounds, surprising the amount of space behind the door car!

Well I ordered them, will let you know how I get on

Thanks Droopy, sounds like it should fit then, hopefully they will arrive next week and can be fitted next weekend, weather permitting.
