I'm guessing that there must be a post already relating to my issue, but a search was rather fruitless. Can the brains trust please direct me to a suitable topic..

Problem being that 89 SP has had minor damage on the front left side. The headlight rises and retracts, but about one cm too high as compared to the right, and also does not fit flush when down . I am assuming that post knock, the previous owner had adjusted the headlight unit up so that it goes up and down without baulking with the dented substructure.. The metal panel beneath the headlights looks really easy to remove and repair, but I'm at odds to know how to then readjust the headlight down so that it sits lower when it is both up and retracted.

Also what are that odd devices attached to each headlight that has a rubber cover and a "turn clockwise" turn knob underneath them?

thanks

Odd devices are the manual winders - only use them with the fuse out or disconnected.

There are stops, you'll see the bar that hits the up stop. It should be governed by the motor and linkage though, if its out one way I'd start by looking there.
