Hi am looking for the horn relay on my 1995 323 astina 2l v6
I've looked in engine bay with no luck
I've looked in 2 fuse boxes with no apparent luck

I wonder if it's under front dash panels
Anybody found it before cheers mark

It should be down in the drivers footwell (RHD) by the fuse panel down there, can't remember if you have to remove the trim panel by your right foot or not, but it's in that area. It's on here:

http://mazdaepc.com/parts/323F/AEBM02/Y1/6630/

as 67-7403 in the upper mid-left of the diagram

Hi thanks for that ,can only find one relay up behind fuse panel next to what looks like like an ecu box behind an elongated silver/grey connection and that tests ok. The diagram shows multiple relays for the 323f version ours appears to be a 323m ,don't know if it makes any difference cheers mark

Hi do you know how the horn circuit works because took the steering wheel apart and the push button switch just makes a circuit to earth frame so not sure how that works cheers mark

Right, may have found it. Spent a while rummaging around in mine which is a '97 car. According to my Haynes manual after '95 the horn relay is located in the passenger footwell  and on the wiring diagram it shows it using G/R (green & red) wiring. So I've found this relay behind the small panel on the outside of the passenger footwell:

I've not removed mine or tested it so not 100% sure but it seems to fit the bill. As for how the horn works? the horn button is in effect just making a ground contact for the live going to the relay; press button, circuit made and relay activates. This in turn creates another circuit to the horns that makes them go beep :D

Hope that helps

Jon

Hi horn does not work when push buttons ,but does when you hold it on battery. Fuse ok ,no power down feed wire to earth ,leaving me looking for relay that went down on my last vehicle as well, should be an easy test item if you just power coil to earth and test continuity cheers mark (now looking in passenger footwell)

Did you check the integrity of the "spiral" cable behind the steering wheel that allows rotation?
That was the problem on my car (the same as yours - dead horn) ..
I've opened the case that holds the cable and when i look at it i saw that there's 6 wires but only 3 of them are used: 2 for airbag and 1for horn..
Found that the horn wire was torn and it wasn't functioning.. so i've just swaped the wires with one that wasn't used and all seems to be fine almoust 2 years now..
Try that before you look for relay problem..
I hope i helped you!

Thanks for that ,I guess a simple test for that is if you have 12v up to steering wheel switch cheers mark

Hi have tested steering wheel has continuity all the way through so no broken wires plus no 12v either end to earth.
So back looking for relay, it's a great photo thanks but can't match it to either passenger side under dash looking up from floor or drivers side either. Any more clues to where you took picture kind regards mark

Hi lol was focused on photo so much I missed words.
Mine is some what different from your picture but eventually found a smaller than standard relay tuck up at the back and it tested out ok. 2 lots of 12v one on coil and one on com/no so looped them out and quack the horn sounded.
So last thing tested between coil out and steering wheel in but no continuity so there must be a break between relay plug out and steering wheel in (job for tomorrow ) many thanks mark

When you look for the horn cables behind the st. wheel, trace the wires color to where they go and eventualy you'll see the problem..

Hi have manage to bypass wire between outlet from relay coil and steering wheel ,which would seem a strange place for a break in the wire to be.
But I don't think it is a break because wire leaving relay is green with orange strip and wire coming out of dash to connector for horn buttons is red with a white stripe.
When they have a fully functional circuit what would they possibly need to cut in to the circuit ???
Cheers mark

I can only think of - fuse..
Folow the red wire and see where it goes.
