Hi there, wondering if any of you guys can tell me what product would be best to rust proof as much of my 2 323's as possible without breaking the limited bank. The saloon is parked up at the moment and quite a few rust spots appearing on the bonnet, boot, etc, Should I blast the rust and touch up with some online touch up kit, mica clearcoat 4F? Or use a waxol type clearcoat on the spots? My 323F, daily driver, I would like to treat as much of it as possible as well as sound proofing, so while carpets up, whats the best product do you reckon. The F will be getting a polish today, doest normally look so rough. I will be covering the saloon with a cover before weather gets any worse, cheers

I should add that I have tried for a second hand rear door for quite a while with no luck so was going to repair it as metal on the inside is pretty good and respray early next year. Really dont fancy having a rattle can job done on it till then but will probably lose the door if I dont

My advice: dont waste any time and money on these panels. They are just garbage.
Get second hand panels and then we can talk about rust proofing.
That is if the rest of the car is in better shape (whicht may be doubtful).

Then you should flood your doors, sills, bonnet, boot lid and rear quarter panels as well as basically all the holes on the underside of the car with something like fluid film http://www.marineco.co.uk/fluidfilm.html or Mike Sander's fat or Teroson multi wax.

My guess though, if your panels look like this, the rest of the car will be rotten as well.
So you might want to do yourself a favour and remove the plastic inteieur covers in your boot (the floor and especially the big pieces on the sides. Beneath you see the rear strut towers which are prone to rust and you can also look inside your quarter panels.
If those are rotten, you might as well save yourself the trouble of doing what i said earlier and just get another car. Unless you really like restoration projects.

Hope that helps.
Just remember: what you have there is far beyond touching up and a "repair" respray job will maybe last a year...

Thanks HMT, luckily enough the rest of the body is in good shape, biggest problem stone chips on the front but sills and arches spotless. I will take the boot interior apart tomorrow and look further into the rest of the car. Unfortunately the saloon is taking a battering rust wise due to being rear ended in feburary warping the boot. I guess sentimental value or not once rust takes hold basically looking at a money pit!!!!
