Front Headlight

Ok so the MOT picked up a headlight bulb out, not sidelight or main beam but the headlight. Fitted the new bulb and the insides of the headlight are loose. Can these units be separated so this can be fixed?

Any help appreciated

They can yes but it's a bit of hassle having to get the headlight lens off - replacement headlights are easy enough to get hold of from a breaker, and usually not too expensive - makes more sense to do that :thumbleft:

Yes both types. preford are koito and postford are bosh

Before 1996 is preford, 1996 is a bit of a mix-n-match, 1997 onwards is postford. Ford bought a much larger share of Mazda in 1996, and changed a few bits.

Headlights are a bit different though - Koito headlights are used in all BAs exluding 1998 ones, which use Bosch headlights (clearer lenses, different bulbs, different wiring connectors) :thumbleft:

ok so advice would be?
I have to change one so should I get two postford lights to make it lighter and brighter or just get the one preford as required.

I have a 1997 'R' plate, so should be a postford car with preford Kioto headlights.

It won't be lighter and brighter, the lens just looks different - the part that the bulb actually shines through is just flat clear glass on both. Get the preford one as required, otherwise you'll have the headache of chopping off the wiring connectors to get them to fit and work :thumbleft:

And yes, you should have Koito headlights. It will have "Koito" embossed on the lens :thumbleft:

Benidormdale - how much do you want for the headlight? Plus there is a thread somewhere about an engine swap that I can't find where I spoke about windows. also deleted the email about that thread!

Just to mention, My first BA was an R reg with Bosch headlights.
Better check just to make sure. As Hughie said it should be stamped on the glass.
