Had anybody done any performance modifications to the 2.0 Diesel BJ's? I've been searching for 2 days now and cannot find anything at all about them.

Im looking for information like induction modifications, max boost pressure? etc?

Hi there,

I have a mazda 323f DITD 110bhp (Import from holland), and it has great tuning potential you just have to know where to get the parts! First thing to do is to gut the catalystic converter, This gives you extra top end. Then you need a K&N panel filter. Take out the airbox horn silencer, and replace with a cold air feed pip running from down slightly below the fog light cover.

Then you need to up the fueling. I did this buy sourcing a tuning chip that i knew would work. If you google "tunit" they do one for all 3 power levels (90, 101, 110) - I think it might be made for the 626 but 323f and 626 diesel use the same engine! You can also ask tunit to send you a usb cable. From this with the software provided you can reprogram the tuning chip to any settings you wish! This means if you do further upgrades you can up the power limited of course by the fuel pump and injectors.

I've found it only maps up to a certain level before the clutch starts to slip, but still at that level you get 0-60 in just under 8 seconds, so not bad.

The next stage (What im doing next) is to get a decent clutch. They do one at "CG-Motorsports" a stage 3 competition paddle clutch for £300.

After this, If you have a non VNT turbo (Varies from year to year) then you can up the boost by putting in a decent ball + spring controller. I've found 18psi is about the turbo's limit on this car.

After that it just depends on how deep your pocket is, but at my current tune i get little extra smoke. Idk why more people dont tune this engine, it really is great. Its big in the rest of Europe but not in the uk for some reason.

Oh, and put a blanking plate in the egr system - its doing your intake no good. If its over 100k i suggest you clean out the intake manifold.

Cheers

Alex

Good luck dealing with them. I'd steer clear personally. 5 phone calls giving them my reg no 2-3 times and still send the wrong kit :doubt:

see my post viewtopic.php?f=14&t=47657&start=60

Still going through trading standards to get the cost of fitting back from them sending the wrong kit .

Is there any way to know it will fit for sure or will I have to just buy + see?

I googled them and every post seem to point to they where a good company. My experience says other wise. Shocking customer service regarding refunds and the pressure plate they sent looked like a std part with groves cut into it.

Thanks errnee. I couldn't find anything specifically for my car, In fact the only 323 ones they do are for 1.6's?

I've sent them a message regardless asking if they do something for my car.

It also uses the same G15M-R gearbox that a few of the bj petrols use - Is this of any use when looking for a clutch?

We got our clutch and flywheel from them, great service, next day delivery after 2 weeks worth or questions from me checking specs and fitments! :D

we ordered for our 1.8 BA with G series gearbox, an early MX5 Flywheel and clutch kit, and it all fitted perfect :D apart from the thrust bearing! :(

:D

You must use clutch and flywheel not one or the other :D

pressure plates are different. unsure if clutch is? thats the issue I had with cgmotorsport . Pressure plate looked to me like it was for the mx-5 . Very very different part.

like I said... try the 89 B series 2.2l diesel clutch... the R2 diesel engine is just a stroked version of the RF engine... as far as I can tell, the flywheel is shared between both engines, just the clutch isn't

the BP uses a different flywheel design and so even though the clutch disc will spline into the gearbox, the rest of it just won't work
the bell housings between the G15M-R and G25M-R are also very different

Hi TheMAN,

Thanks for your advice. You're right the RF is an R2, and interestingly even the latest mazda diesel engines are the RF but with commonrail and diffrent heads.

Is something like this going to fit then?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panther-Paddle-Clutch-Kit-MAZDA-B-Series-Pick-Up-B2200-D-88-98-/160655808411?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2567d5179b#ht_2619wt_1397

How about this? HAs anyone had any experience with clutches from these people?

http://www.madmotors.co.uk/black-diamon ... lutch.html

Any reason why its nearly £500 for a stage 1 - Or is cg just stupidly under-priced?

Or this?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TORQUE-FAST-ROAD-STAGE-2-CLUTCH-KIT-MAZDA-323-F-MK4-BJ14-2-0-16V-TDI-00-03-/160890279169?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D15%26pmod%3D400314305948%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2465152101754165997&_qi=RTM1062687#ht_1999wt_1397

For some reason, Searching for bj14 tdi gets loads of different clutch sets for my car! I thought it was just a BJ, not BJ14. Also I've been looking for DiTD as the imports are called that.

Edit:
Or this, Bloody pricey though - you tell me if it would be worth it:

the one on mad motors and 2nd ebay link will be fine
it's called "BJ14" because the 323F (BJ estate)'s VIN body code is "14"
it's meaningless and pointless really

Did a bit of research on the panther clutches and apparently they are just as bad as CG.

Black diamond is supposed to be really good though. I have found a stage 2 non-paddle but kevlar clutch kit here:

http://www.carperformanceuk.co.uk/clutc ... ch-109501/

£500ish but would seem to be a good buy, kevlar so long lasting, and not a puck clutch so road-useable. Also a well known reputable brand as far as i can tell.

Does anyone know what the lb-ft limit is on the g15m-r gearboxes? Im looking for about 180bhp and 300lb/ft if possible. Beyond that I would probably need a new gearbox wouldn't I?

We're currently peaking at 257ft/lbs I wouldn't like to put any more torque through the G series box without some decent strength mods :D

@323F Rock

Which G Series is that? I know there are a few and some have uprated internals.

@Errnee
Do you mean here?
http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Mazda/626/2000/Single

They only seem to do petrol ones, not diesel - Or does it not matter as its the same gearbox?

Cheers

Would it be worth trying to ask a Mazda dealership? Would they know what the G15M-R used in the diesels are capable of?
