I want to get the amp for my sub out of the boot, and mount it elsewhere so I can quickly take the sub out by just disconnecting the speaker cable through an XLR or speakon connector if/when I need to drop the seats and use the boot for larger loads.

Anyone see any problem with mounting the amp under the passenger seat?

Other than heat, should be fine :dontknow:

Mount it onto the side of the sub box - then just remove the whole shaboodle

There are a few potential problems...depends on the size of the amp ;)

floor isn't level under the seat, and there isn't that much room - especially as you don't want it sitting on the heater outlet...
It can get kicked, and wires can get pulled - which can give you big problems, and small fires
You might give a fatty a lift, and it will get squashed

I would put the connector on the power side, and do as Hughie suggested :)

It's a fairly small amp, from pictures I've seen of the the floor with the seat removed it looks like it would fit without blocking the heater vent, but I've yet to actually try it.

Disconnecting the power and taking the amp out too would work I guess, but means an anderson connector plus audio lines and remote need taking off, or one of them Vibe plugs plus audio, but it gets messy and potentially end up with a nice thick positive line being pulled about.

I get what you mean about it being kicked though, could end up just as bad. Will have a proper look and see what I could do about that ;) Cheers guys

Can you mount it on the back of the rear seat, and then cover it in foam if you need to drop the seat and load up the boot?

you can get a Vibe fast plug,
positive, negative and remote all in one big black plug!
then just disconnect your phonos and your away!

We have 2 of them one for the Subwoofer and one for the parcel shelf!

:D

I could put it on the back of the seat if I got another amp, current one has no mounting points what so ever and no room inside to add any. Think it must have had some kind of clip on bracket.

Rock - I know of the fastplug, it looks a good idea but I don't have the option to mount the amp on the sub I've got. Plus, I want to keep things as neat, tidy and hidden as possible.
