I've just got new alloys fitted at a mazda garage and they have jacked the car on the box sections that run the entire length of the car on each side and dented them.

They claim that its nothing to worry about but I'm not so sure, does anyone know if those beams are structural, I imagine they must be.

Also if anyone knows where I can get a (cheap) independant assesment of the damage I'd be most grateful.

They marked the alloys putting them on as well, can't believe it.

Thanks
Ian.

don't know about the underside but if you bought and got the alloys fitted by the garage then I would just tell them to take em off and refund your money... No decent garage should damage the alloys when taking off the wheels or replacing and if they do they are liable. Did you tell them before you took the car away ??

The part you are refering to are called the chasis rails which are a major part of the structure of your car, mine have a few dents in them aswell from mechanics cutting corners
Depending on how bad there dented it shouldnt be much to worry bout,id still be kicking up a stink about it though, especially the alloys :x
Thats why i take off my front bar and my alloy wheels b4 i take it to any mechanic, cause that dont give a rats a**e about the way they treat your car,so i just try and prevent it b4 it happens
Goodluck with it :)

I didn't spot the damage until the next day (saturday), they used an air driver to put the nuts back on, the socket was too big and has rubbed through the gloss and paint. They have offered to "re-gloss them" but I paid for new alloys and I want alloys that look like new.

The csma legal line has told me what to put in a letter to them, they have to sort it out under the supply of goods and services act. I'll let you know how I get on, completely ruined the thrill of new wheels though.

Thanks
Ian.

Don't forget to post details as to WHO the garage was so that no other 'F'ers will have to suffer at their hands!!

That's part of the point of having a car club: we can praise those who do a good job and send more work their way through referral and ALSO warn everyone about the assholes who just want your money and don't possess the skilss to earn it properly!!

SO PLEASE TELL ALL...... and then post on ALL the forums you know of; it's amazing how quickly news spreads on the 'Net!!

It may cause you a problem in the long term as the chassis has bent the protective coating may have cracked or come off and this will allow it to corrode. Get the garage to chuck some underseal on it or do it yourself.

I bought the wheels from Queensborough Mazda in the west end of Glasgow, but they got Mcconechy's Tyre's to fit the new tyres and put the wheels on my car, my argument is with Queensborough though as I paid them.

I'll not underseal it until I've had a go at them, I don't want to give them an excuse that I've tampered with anything. I plan to give the whole car the waxoil treatment anyway.

Thanks
Ian.

Surprised you had any trouble with Queensburgh as I have used them for the last 4 years for servicing and they have always been very good.

In fact they had my Zxi for 2 days this week for 54k service, belt change, new water pump and front discs + pads.

No change out of £700 but car is running and stopping great :)

Only thing they never got round to looking at is the aircon

Bankies,

Its a legal thing, I have to hassle Queensborough even though its not their fault, I didn't have a contract with Mcconechy's.

Having said that I've been out 3 times now to show them the damage and now they are asking me to go out again so that Mcconechy's can see the damage. Suspect they might be hoping I just give up, but I won't.

How much do Queensborough charge for servicing? I use Nationwide Autocentre on Clyde Place, they're excellent, service plus MOT for less than £100

Thanks
Ian.
