very recently i get these flat spots where the cd is playing but the sub cuts out.....

the door speakers work fine but the sub cuts out as does the amp??

i tried using a different sub-amp combo, switched them around and still same problem...

checked all the wiring...ground is fine, power supply good, remote good...
then i replaced the fuses all of them just in case (they were all fine neway)

now iv found that the fuse under the bonnet (embedded within the red power line) ....whenever the sub n amp cut out if i fiddle with this it comes back on straight away?

i am wondering why?? if i plug the fuse in tightly all the way it doesnt work, but if i leave it loose it works but moves out of place with the sub vibrations???

any ideas what 2 do?

Maybe or it could be as simple as a dodgy power lead, get a new one or take the blade fuse out and fit an in-line fuse in its place

it sounds more like a loose wire or a short.

when the sub n amp drain the battery the whole car starts to die. feels like the engine's choking then the power surges on, then choke, then power.

it happens to me when every i drive long distances, first time it happened was on the way home from jae last year. after 7 hrs of driving and being stuck in traffic jams the last thing you want is this happening. i was crapping it.

now i just switch the stereo off for half hour spells.

prob should get a cap for mine lol

lol.
where is your amp positioned???
is it in a confined space??
how loud is your music or how often does this happen.

if your answers were:
IN BOOT,
YES,
VERY,

then your amp is overheating.
had this problem in my forst car(micra, see pic)
took back cover off and placed extracting computer fan behind it and worked a treat.

ryt the amp is in the boot, there are 2 subs 1x 12" and 1x 10" both got their own amps and seperate boxes,

however only the 12" is connected....the wiring seems all fine except for the fuse at the front which seems a little dodgy
iv neva had this problem before but ive bin using the same setup for quite along time now, and in all of my previous cars :S

the battery is fine its just the power supply to the amp seems to cut off n come back as it pleases.....
most ma mates think its just the songs which mute the bass and kik it bak for effect
but its not ino there is an issue with the power supply

as stated above there is a thermo cut-off which cuts power when the amp gets too hot.
this is especially aparent on anologue amps as the internal parts get much hotter compared to digital amps

how is your amp mounted?

your best bet is to remove the plate on the back that is covering the electronics inside and try to get it more ventalated.
sometimes you can do it just by taking the back off but i had to put a fan inbetween as i had 2 back to back

that would only increase the problem as the heat gets trapped inside the box.
is the box ported???

try turning the gain down so that the amp is not trying so hard all the time.
this will decrease the volume but i think you can get over this by turning the amp up on the head unit.

anyways i got wrk in the morning so off to bed.
if u need any more help pm me mate.

If you've screwed the amp to the sub box, make sure that you use rubber mounts inbetween the amp and the box otherwise it'll vibrate the crap out of the amp and damage it.
Try tightening up the wires that come straight off the battery.
Dont get a cap, they're not useful at all. A lot cheaper and less hassle to get a decent battery and run decent grounds. I had a 660CCA battery in my F, that held up really nicely when doing DBDrags. Burped for about 5 seconds, no problems.
All the audiophiles here never run caps for the fact that they're not needed at all. They're just extra wiring that gets in the way to the amp, more resistance.
I second on the reducing the gain and turning it up on the headunit, easy as, less battery drain too.
Ask away if you need more answers to your questions.
