Hello

have all models of 323f got the same steering rack ?

i need on for zxi v6

No. there Not all the same from looking at an mazda epc (mazda price is around £914 +vat for full rack) but you can get some parts seperate ie ball joints £45 seal kit £55 but i would go for a recon unit if i were you . got work out cheaper

Why do you need new steering rack ?

Hi mazdaman

got a serious knocking noise wHen i rock tHe steering, so i am guessing its tHe steering rack ??

Try your cv joints. may be knackered

Just stripped both sides bown and un bolted track rod ends.

now when i rock the steering wheel i still get the same knocking noise comming from the steering rack.

when i unbolted the track rod ends, the steering rack that attaches to the track rod ends was totally limp, flopped about with no resistance.

so it looks like a steering rack is going to be needed, got a quote for £125 + vat locally for a recon unit. or £325 + vat fitted.

had a look and it seams to be pretty straight foward (famous last words) done a couple of racks on other cars, fiesta xr2, excort rs turbo. does any one know if this will be as straight foward?

It Is based on a ford so It mIght be?

You can buy ends of steering rack seperatlly @55.00 each. easy to do.
cheaper than new rack and less messey
