My "O" Ring needs replacing too. Just rang Lincoln Mazda for a price and..... "Not on the shelf sir , can have one here for Wednesday...... £6.30 including the VAT" I replied "HOW MUCH????"
how come its so expensive, i got mine from mazda garage in newcastle for £1.97
I have no idea.... i checked with the grimsby dealer and the price was the same I am guessing a V6 oil ring is different to the 1.5 then .... it much be nearly 4 times bigger

Dan (gogobroom) picked up a three of them fairly recently for the V6 and all of them together didn't come to that. I'd ask him first before getting them.

I recall someone was quoted an exorbitant price for a "Dizzy O-Ring" - it turned out they'd ordered him a dizzy cover gasket by mistake !!!

i checked that Andy and they say its the right price.... 2 different dealers cant be wrong can they??...... maybe they can... I'll find out tomorrow

another O ring changed

Went into my local Mazda dealer for one of these bad boys today..

Me: Hello. Can I have an 'O'ring for a Mazda 323F please
Parts Man: A what?
Me (handing him a piece of paper with the part number and my VIN code written on it) : One of these
Parts Man (searching on his PC): Ahh an 'O' ring. Distributor or gear change?...
Me: Distributor please
Parts Man: The one that sits at the end of the distributor going into the head?
Me: That's the fella
Parts Man: Where did you get the part number from?
Me (thinkin bollucks!): Err...one of my mates bought the same part recently for his car too..
Parts Man: Cool. We don't actually hold any in stock. Can get one in for you but it won't be here till Wednesday now?
Me (not convinced he believes me about the part number so desparately trying to make myself sound thick): Yeah, that's fine. It is for the 1.5 right if they're different for the 1.8 and 2.0??
Parts Man: Yeah, that would have been picked up from your chassis number
Me: Of course

why did you have to lie about the your knowledge source of the part number mate?

Because I don't think my copy of the EPC is officially "licensed"

When they ask me where I get my part no's from, I tell em - From my EPC

My "O" Ring needs replacing too. Just rang Lincoln Mazda for a price and..... "Not on the shelf sir , can have one here for Wednesday...... £6.30 including the VAT" I replied "HOW MUCH????"
is that at silverlink mate?? quite a drive for a £2 piece of kit...
Because I don't think my copy of the EPC is officially "licensed"
you have a copy??? i didn't even know they needed licensing.... i thought you got the part number from one of the other guys here... which i thought would have been a perfectly good excuse... lol

where do you get this epc from? i wants!

whats the part number for the 1.5? i was going to order one today.
whats the part number for the 1.5? i was going to order one today.
99541-03801

ive got an epc too, the other day when i was down getting a couple of o rings i forgot to get the part number so we had to go through his epc. He didnt say much when i told him he was probably looking in the wrong section and should try the search function on the main page insted, lol

whats the rotor arm exactly? and how can refitting the dizzy/o ring component go wrong?

just so i know what to avoid.... i know to re-align and stuff, just want to know what happens if its not aligned and what ever the rotor arm is, if that a little out or facing wrong direction.

just finally got around to ordering it... £1.97 inc VAT.
will be here by friday.

as far as im aware, when you take the dizzy cap off you can see the rotor arm - its grey (if you want pictures, let me know although im away till friday). i found removing this was the hardest part as it didnt want to budge, i eased it off gently witha flat head screw driver though...nive and gently

just make a note (or take a picture) when you dismantle it to see how it was all oreitated - cant go wrong that way when you re-assemble. j

yeah i wont be trying this untill sunday i think... a few days yet...
a pic would be good thanks.. if you can...

I did one on my V6 and my old 1.5 lastnight. I was a bit nervous too but its handy enough. Like Dai said the hardest part was getting the rotor arm off. If you're unsure what the rotor arm looks like check out fordprobestore. They do replacements and have pictures of the parts

You don't even need to remove the rotor mate
You don't even need to remove the rotor mate
aye when i done mine i don't remeber removing it either

even better...

Come to think of it you don't need to take the rotor arm off but it makes things easier if you want to clean up the arcing surface of the rotor arm. It's not a big deal either way

I have got an oil leak on my 1.5 BA. Looking at this thread it looks like it may be the distributor O ring? Does this look like a typical O ring leak?

Thanks
Diesel

Not sure, but it's worth replacing it at a cost of under £2 from Mazda anyway

Yeah - it looks well gone ! Possibly a bit of seepage fropm the tappet cover gasket there too, but I'm just guessing ... You'll know for sure after you've replaced the dizzy O-Ring and cleaned it all up nicely ...

not sure if its any different from the BA's. but if you need a hand give me a shout

Looks like a BA from the pic...?

2 litre turbo diesel according to the garage

I knew you'd correct me Matt

If it were a diesel, it wouldn't have a dizzy now, would it .....
