Hi again,

Thanks for all the info and great help.I'm about to start a full service with belts, etc.

What type and grade of oil should I use on 1.5 model?
The book says 10W/30!

Cheers

No such thing in the UK: use 10W-40. I'm told by a local dealer that's what they use.

Amsoil make a very high spec synthetic oil of 10W30 viscosity. Demon tweeks and a few special places sell it, its not cheap though at 30 quid a 5 litre tub. This oil is prob overkill though, get some halfords own brand semi synth 10W40 and just change it fairly often, or any other brand semi with good specs. I would only use Amsoil in 300bhp turbo cars where the oil is more important.

I'm dropping to Castrol GTX Magnetic this year from Castrol RS. RS is OTT really in my opinion - especially as I've got an oil leak thats leaking my £35 a bottle of oil somewhere

Another reason is that you can get Magnetec in any old petrol or service station - just in case!
