My car is 96's if ford was in at 95 how precisely can you tell if it is pre or post
Mine is just pre-restyling
It means I've the old badge and the curved interior but also doesn't have the push button boot release neither leather gaiter that you're saying are from the pre-model
sorry, i forgot to address this 95/96 is the crossover point - so your car is indeed a hybrid of the 2 as you say, old badge - new rear panel and gear gator

:thumbright:
I won't call it hybrid
cars have options and expensive or cheaper versions
the production is not equal to everywhere..a Mazda3 that come to European Union is not equal to a Mazda3 made to USA not even to middle Europe. Your base model could have leather gear gator but here in Portugal we started the range with rubber one
an example there are in Portugal newer cars than mine with rear push button etc

I could possibly agree it was an hybrid between pre or post restyle version but don't even think it's my case

95/96 ??? mines 1st registered on 28th feb 1997... and it is a mixed feature car like that....

from pre ford models i have:
-green interior
-plain green seats
-badgeless steering wheel
-pre ford mirrors
-armrest covered deep side pockets
- old mazda badges
- koito headlamps (h3/h1 mix)

and from post ford i have:
- crappy rubber ribbed gaitor ( long gone now though)
-post ford heating panel
- black door strips
- buttonless rear panel and key hole
- driver side boot release lever
-? not sure about this one, but my power steering cooling pipe does not go in front of the radiator like it did in my old GLX

i don't have no high level brake light

why does everyone hate these? i think the rubber one looks 100x better than the leather one it looks a lot more neat and tidy rather than the crum tray leather one! + its the same colour as my dash and centre console un like the dark black leather one.

really?? crap in what sense?? i thought they were better cos they looks like they cover a wider angle? i at least like the way the back plate of those mirrors can be removed to paint(colour code) without taking the whole mirror off

All my 323's have been mazda's ... and the mirrors have been excellent :D .. first time out in the KLZE ... which is Ford :( the mirrors are crap and cover 20% of what the mazda ones did ... I have had at least 8 F's and this ones mirrors are SH1T with a capital SH1T

I like the look of the post ford's better :) and I have had no problems using them whatsoever - but then again I've never really driven a pre-ford F :D (I'm one of the few who like the post-fords better ;))

If you drove a Mazda you would retract your initial sentance in the post above ;)

and here was me thinking of finding a way to replace mine with post ford mirrors....
its because i like the shape of the post fords too, but if they're crap in terms of vision, then i think no more of them... lol

Dan, supply me with a pre-ford (preferably type r?) and I might hehe

I just think the post-ford interior is tidier and more modern, but those door puddle lights and cool pockets with lids are really cool :(

m7acx, I don't think they're crap :D

both of my F's that i have owned had pre-ford mirrors, so as Dan does, i may possibly struggle with them post-fords?
but as i have said previously, i think they look cool :thumbright:

i think i prefer the ford ones nothing to do with me having one its just the little things such as:

Mirror covers i prefer
I hate the gaya lids on the pockets!
Black dash yummy!
I love the door strips
Small hole in the a**e end for the key
And my Gear Gator!

u guys havent really got much i want :evil4:

I've driven both pre- and post ford Fs - TBH I haven't noticed any difference between the mirrors whilst driving - just the obvious cosmetic differences but I do like the post ford mirror looks better than the pre-ford mirror look :P

The vision on the Ford ones is pathetic .. its about half of what you can see in the Mazda ones ... well the ones on the KLZE are anyway

The intake piping is slightly different on the ZXi's compared to the GLX's.

Seats, yes seats :D

Pre ford ones are fully cloth in a nice restrained pattern, they have a proper adjuster cable underneath for the slide, 360mm runners and the passenger seat gets a map pocket :D

Post ford ones have gay fabric, and no pocket, and vinyl on the back, a simple wire for the slider and 375mm runners ;)

Also the seat belt clips are different ;)

I have a 1998 BA..
First I dont have the push button Boot.
think thats just different between factorize or something. don't think it has anything to do with post or pre ford.

I love vinyl on the back of the front sets, one of the first things I noticed when i sad in the back seat.
Loving the new Badge, and the Black Interior.

Could someone put in pics of post and pre ford Wingmirrors?

push button on boot was standard on pre fords only (found on some cross overs as well) and was not available at all on the post fords
i have the 1997 zxi.
i have the new type door cards, no big pocket, sad coz i quite like the ones with the big pockets.
i dont have dimming lights either. thats another bugger coz id like them too.
i have the black side strips, i prefer the lines this produces on the car.
i dont have push button boot lid.
i have the ugly rubber gaitor for gear shift. infact i remember when i got in it to test drive it, that was the first thing my jaw dropped at, coz its pretty ugly.
also the v6 is slightly different i beleive. i knwo from looking at my front cam cover compared to others, the older ones have a pipe comming out the front and along to the right side of the engine. mine doesnt.

is the v6 in the pre-ford models better than the later one?
how can i get dimming lights in the car?
are the seats in the zxi the best ones?
how do i geta cheap remote locking fob. the car has remote locking but i never got the fob. doh!
i also got a 1997 zxi and it has dimming lights.

i dont have black strip and i dont have a push button boot.
