I think this is one for Robbie mainly: when the idle on my V6 was a bit high I adjusted it with the small screws on the throttle body, but have since learned these are set by the factory and shouldn't be adjusted - there is a separate screw for the idle adjustment. So, do you know what the correct setting for these screws is? I'd like to get them back to the correct setting. There are two (with locknuts), one for the butterfly and one for a quadrant type thing on the side of the throttle body where the cable attaches.

Any info gratefully received.....

I know.

It hasn't done any harm but it's a lesson not to meddle with things if you don't have the right info.....

Do you mean you have moved the electrical throttle sensor with the plug on it? This has 2 8mm bolts. Of have you taken the throttle quadrant off :?: Surely this is on a "flat" on it's spindle and will only go on one way. Can you post/email some pictures of what you have adjusted/buggered

No, there are two little grubscrews (use allen key) with locknuts (8mm I think), one on the sprung quadrant where the throttle cable attaches, and one on top of the throttle body that acts as a stop for the butterfly (I think). This is from memory now as I'm at work but I will check later at home. I'll try to get photos too.

"The throttle screws are factory set and should not be adjusted, any adjustment of the throttle screws will have a detrimental effect on the engine perfomance" ....or words to that effect. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate :(

Thanks Robbie. Not sure how it can have much of a "detrimental effect" as the butterfly is closed and the screws only change its positon by a gnats knacker. The engine doesn't feel any different, but I'll see how it goes for a bit. I understand there are some pins to short together on the diagnostic connector before adjusting the CORRECT idle screw (the big one in the top of the throttle body) - do you know which ones...?

If you've got a sticker in the lid of the Diagnostic socket you need to short out TEN (Test ENgine) and GND (GrouND) to adjust base idle and timing. If you don't have a sticker these is the pin arangement :-

___|FEN|MEN|___|TEN|+B|
|GND|OO|OO|OO|OO|OO|OO|
__|OO|OO|OO|OO|OO|OO|

_|OO|IG-|GND|TFA|F/P|OO|
_|OO|_____________|OO|

OO is a blank terminal. I hope you can work it out. You may/probably will have extra terminals/some missing (i.e. TBS, FBS, TAB, FAB, KLN) but I don't have the compleate diagram to hand. TEN and GND as the same on all cars though and these are the ones you need 8)
