I have a spare BA bonnet with eyebrows welded on to give the 'bad boy' look. Been working on it every now and then for about 5 years and never got round to finishing it. Fits the car perfectly with clearance over the headlights, but I keep messing up the paint job and losing motivation. First time around I polished through the laquer, basecoat and primer on a mystery high spot.
This weekend I took it all back and started from scratch. I thought I'd just quickly give it a coat of some black 2K paint to seal the primer until the day I got the whole car resprayed. Only, I mixed the 2K with reducer, not hardener...
I've wasted too much time on this to get any joy over ever finishing and fitting it to my car.
This was to replace the dented up standard bonnet that came with the car (previous owner was hit by a stray wheel). Looking to swap for a reasonable condition Emerald Green bonnet.

Apologies for the bad photo. It currently lives on top of my MX5 Turbo. Looking to sell the MX5 soon, so the bonnet has to go. Paint thinner should strip the messed up paint, although it is dry to the touch (like normal paint after a day or two).

What overall condition is the bonnet in, ie rust underneath? Seriously tempted...

No rust. Seams were all stripped back to bare metal, cleaned up, etch primed and new seam sealer. It wasn't as easy to strip around the reinforcements so some of the old paint had bubbled, but i always intended to cover this with the heatshield mat. Some marks and blemishes could do with high build primer.
Would seem a waste to scrap it as the welding is sound.
