My wife wouldn't drive anything else because it's got pop-up lights. and we are on our 7th or 8th now we've had them as our main car since about 1995.
Our main car was until last year a red GTi which unfortunately failed due to extensive welding needed. so it joined our other 2 in storage
So this year I persuaded her to try an Mx5 which she now loves . Mk1 of course, yeah popups!!
two weeks later she saw another 1.6 on line in Wigan which we went and bought , its Mreg and had approx 64000 on the clock, and though it needed some welding for the MoT it wasn't too bad. so had it done properly during the 1st lockdown and we've done about 5000m in the year.
So we've had to sell one of the stored cars, let it go for too little but storage costs, I have then stripped our most rotten one a met grey K reg. so i still have panels and a full interior in case of accidents.
this lockdown I've replaced the front discs and pads on the Mreg and i've started doing bits to the GTi.
then just before Xmas I found another 1.6 in met Carribean blue (through this forum)which needed some bits finishing but I've got it running, mot'd and fixed a water leek and this will become my main car until i can afford to restore the Gti.
I will be selling our red Mreg 1.6 shortly, , I was also thinking of taking it to Mathewsons auction.
