Just had a reply from JamSport;

"We’d have to make a one off kit for you, which would be in the region of £3500. It’s difficult to quote an exact price without seeing the car and knowing exactly what needs altering. I can’t really estimate a power or torque increase either, but we’d hope for 35bhp at least."

Basically been speaking to the guys there and they reckon they could get anything from 35hp to 135hp added from one of these little superchargers, depending on how highly tuned you wanted it. They warn that the more boost they give you the less reliable the engine will become.

Remember the price is for parts, fitting, tuning and exclusivity (nobody else has done this before on a BJ, we would be in our own little club ).

They said they would be interested in Group Orders as this would cut down the production costs of the kit, the more people interested the cheaper the kit gets, so, anyone interested in this?

Well what do you call exclusive, supercharged BJ's have been done before
with no significant results compared to turbocharging from what I recall.
Just look for the W.O.M.P. supercharger for the protege.

A turbo setup would set you back for like 2500gbp (without install)
and gives 150 bhp where it was 98bhp before.

3500 gbp is alot of money if you don't know what the results will be.
Surely it is interesting but we need facts and figures, something
they probably can't give at this point.

TBH, for £3500 I'd want reliability, at least 50bhp extra, and a tried and tested system.
As good as it would be, I's rather spend up on the turbo, at least its tried and tested.

It was a short lived product that dissapeared in a blaze of bad publicity a couple of years ago. There are far smaller numbers of supercharged BJ's around due to the stresses involved. A couple of years back I spoke to a Mazda engine specialist who told me to steer clear of a supercharger unless I wanted to risk putting a piston through the block. A turbo option is generally cheaper and more reliable
