Apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

I have a 1993 323f (BG) 1.6 GLXi. I have seen a 1993 1.8gt that is being broken and was wondering what i would need to transplant the engine. Key issues are:

1. Are all the engine mounts the same?
2. Is the electrical loom and ECU the same.
3. Will the 1800 engine attach directly onto the 1600 gearbox.

Opinions on if this is even worth doing would be appreciated. Ultimately i would like a GTi at some point but the few that do come up are either too far away or too expensive.

Not sure on the mounts but I'm pretty sure you'll need ecu and engine loom.

You'll need the ECU and engine loom, mounts look the same, not sure about the gearbox

mount is the same 100%, also from younger 323 you can put engine in bg and reversely. One friend have 323P 1999. with gt-r engine and original 1.5 gear box, everything fits without cutting and welding.

Thanks for the input. Looks like i'll have to have a re-think, the car that is being broken is in Fife (Edinburgh) and the company have a strict policy in that all items have to be collected and paid for at their depot. They will not post! Gutted

1: almost, the gearbox mount from the G-series (GT) box is different. But you won't be using that
2: the electrical bit (fusebox and alternator/starter loom) is swapable. The engine loom for sensors and ecu is needed from the GT
3: yes but swap the flywheel and clutch as well from your 1600.
