Getting there - new Cold pipe (polished) and boost tubes to go on later today... about to put boost tubes in the heating cupboard to see if I can get them a little softer...

So.. after I did the cold pipe I decided that after 650 miles I should check the catch can...

I've heard horror stories before and seen pics... but to be honest was still a little bit of a sceptic. I'd stress that this isn't a 'shiney' catchcan and is buried down in the wheel arch to make it easy to drain...

Couple of minutes of faff to find the drain plug, then thought... damp.. must be water in the arch .. but no - this came out of the can!

Suffice to say Ill be draining it regularly from now on. The car is ALWAYS run on Vpower or Momentum... looks like my catch can is working I'd say!

Admitted defeat and got the corksport one.

The 6 has a intake, crankcase and block breather and its a bit of a faff to fit. I had a mate doing other stuff (he runs his own garage) so thought might aswell whilst he was on the ramps.

Whatever you get - get one with an easy drain plug...

Been a while - new Sure R6 engine mounts, ported and polished intake... some painting whilst I was in there too...

Next up is to replace the VVT pulley as its just starting to slacken and allow the chain to 'slap' the inside of the cam cover... hey ho.

Need to get that done soonish as rumour has it that a new hybrid tubby, downpipe and re-remap is in the offing...

Clarky. Your MPS is simply awesome. It pulled like a train before so god knows what its like now. I cannot wait to see it if the rumours are true about a hybrid being fitted.

So EGR deleted and a new timing chain and vvt pulley done - next week should see the sportscatted downpipe, 3 port boost controller and hybrid tubby going in. Mapped back up and off we go!

If it's a BNR turbo then the BNR1 is good to around ~360BHP(?) and BNR3 can stretch to around ~400BHP(?) I think. Although you can tune them less to reduce stress on engine internals.

It's the sensible (safe) family car - hence 350ish will be fine for me...

Picked up on the way home on friday and ... wow. Instant boost and a lot more torque. We worked on the basis of as safe a map as possible with smooth useable torque throughout - that is exactly what I've got.

Weirdly the noise is much less from the cabin now, but its got an even angrier growl under load from the roadside. Sent the missus off with it this morning so that I could hear and it does sound pretty different!

Chuffed-and keen to 'test' in the coming weeks!

Been a while ...

Recent updates - other than all the fluids being changed and a good general service and MOT ... wheels tyres and suspension...

I ended up going for Bilstein B8s combined with H&R springs. I was using mx5 wheels with winter tyres on but this year found them a bit soft in the hard corners and ended up picking up a set of newly powdercoated Mk2 3mps rims for a good price. Then a set of Avon ice and winter rubber to go with that.

I also have a set of satin black oem 6mps alloys wearing new toyo t1rs sat in the shed waiting for the warmer weather with some 5mm spacers.

Geometry rechecked today - only very slightly out so tweaked back to the original wheels-in-motion setup... happy days on the way home!

So bad week... got shunted up the rear by a 5 series - so back to body shop for a new rear bumper....

The Insurance have given me a merc e250d ..amg wheels, stop start etc.... Least I now know I'll never own a merc. Soulless, dull and can't go round corners... yeuch.

Will get some of the other bits tidied whilst it's in... now of to see if I can disable some of the nannies on Herman ze German...

Need to get the aircon checked first .. Seems to be less and less cool. I know that one pipe is prone to leaking so will start there. Local place will check for free and we'll go from there.

Then hopefully get the brakes done later in the week. Watching the corksport vid it looks simple enough to do... Bleeding looks interesting but other than that all straight forward.
