Right as some of you know the KJ-ZEM is found in the xedos6/9 I'm doind a little research into whether it will fit in a BA as I think it would be a very neat conversion if it can be done. . . There are many rumours aver the internet that it won't fit into anything full stop and therefore everyone is very scared of this engine. If anyone has any info on it it would be greatly appreciated, I'm only interested in facts not fiction ![]() heres a start. . . it IS a 60 degree V6, the cam pulleys drive the Exhaust cams not the intake cams like on the normal V6

I'd have one if it were possible, been musing on the idea for years, as far as we found out last time this was discussed, its too tall for a 323F/Lantis engine bay, sadly They're not cheap to buy either and are uber rare, only fitted to the Xedos 9 here in the UK, and the Xedos 9 is based on the Millenia platform not the CBA platform the F and the Xedos 6 are based on!!

Here is some good news for you Andy. . . .they do come in the Xedos6 so therefore possibly not too tall for the 323F ![]() It just takes a little research and time and anything is possible, I genuinely don't think it will be too tall if the 2 intercoolers were taken off and the pipes routed differently. Even if it was too tall there is no problem with an MX-5/6MPS style bulge in the bonnet to hint at a little power

Nope there is not one, I must have got confused, anyway, it will still fit with a bit of messing around as the side engine mounts look to be in the same place. . . . people are on with fitting them to an MX-3 so surely will go in the BA

The height shouldn't be too much of an issue I don't think, as the block is a KL block basically, as are the heads - so the only thing to change the height would be the intake, SC and ICs. As Stu said, ICs can be swapped for a front-mount, then I reckon the intake manifold would probably clear the bonnet, but only just. That's all guesswork though based on how a KL fits obviously I haven't done it, so I don't know for sure!Would be fun though

You could have different engine mounts made for the side mounts, the other 2 aren't an issue I'd say. Then also either raise the bonnet at the back, or have a poly bonnet made to spec... Nothing will not fit, it's just the amount of time and money that you've got to spend ofcourse... Interesting engine this! |

It's a pretty amazing engine, I see no reason why I couldn't get a reliable 250bhp out of it too

Do it. To give you an impression what a BJ with a bulge hood looks like. (Its a pre-facelift however) Ehm, incredibly awesome. |

I remember looking at the miller cycle engine with Roadster Robbie. He worked as a mechanic in the local Mazda dealership and there just happened to be a Xedos 9 with it's trousers down and the engine (half) out... the problem was not the height but the LENGTH of the engine... for whatever reason (can't remember now) the engine would have extruded out of the FRONT of the BA!! We all know how little space there is in the engine BA of a V6 as it is but there are a lot more gubbins (technical term) and ancillaries that go with this engine. Would be a good conversion to see as it would be truly unique but I think that you would lose the shape (and therefore one of the major character points) of the BA. C'mon Andy; where's that ROTREX kit got to?!?

The physical size of the engine is EXAXTLY the same, it's a few bolt on parts that are different and some that can be removed and relocated. . .intercoolers for starters

seen the supercharged kl in a 323 state side? he mounted the charger infront of the engine, this would remove some of that height? |
