this about big cores/turbopipes and lag......

A well renovend(think its spelled like this..) tuningcompany here in norway did a test on this. They testet BIG coolers on small turbos, tested long and big assed turbopipings(3" from turbo to inlet manifold) and both the pressure drop and the lag from the system was BARELY measurable.....

the pipes arent vakuumed, by this i mean, contains NO air at all while the turbo aint boosting. The air is there, så all you have to do, is start pressurising the system, and the turbo has absolutely no problem doing that.
Its like... you start blowing through a hose... no problem at all, its only a problem if the piping gets like 10 meters or so...

The reason we have chosen the smaller better flow cooler is because we need to worry about a good flow of cold air, The larger intercooler was WAY to big an didnt fit behind the bumper, plus it would cause too much boost drop for our lil system. The american guy that has already done this confirmed this cause his turbo spooled a good 500rpms later with the larger intercooler...

Why only turbo the 1.5? - is there a reason why no-one turbos the 1.8?

the hi flow cat is a 2.5" to 2.5" jobbie, he's gonna go from the tubular manifolds to a 2.5" collector to the cat, it will then utilise his 2.25" Stainless system for the time being. Eventually he will go to a 2.5" system all the way back.

Were turboin the 1.5 for 2 reasons really, 1) its never been done in the UK before and 2) you can get some damn good power doin it

its cos we can spend the money we save from tax and insurance on massive turbos and superchargers

no one else has one - what's shaggy running at the mo??!!

well - the engine in the car now is too "new" to be replaced so soon

but it think once i got all my other mods done - it's a possibility!!

I think if i seriously did it then we're talking at least 2 years down the line

Unless something nasty happens to the engine in her at the mo (touch wood she stays ok cos i cant afford for her to go wrong on me now!!!)

i reckon - save £100 a month - 2 years from now = £2400 - not a bad start - hehe

Although i did contemplate today hacking into my savings to combine

that V6 on ebay with the duff engine with the 2.5 V6 engine on here for £650

But i dont have space, time or the know how to do anything with it!!

Thats a BPT fella, thats how the engine comes standard, if you turboed the BP its still not a BPT is it..

They are 2 seperate engine matey

and yeah i got a 2.5 in/out cat and i will have a 2.5 downpipe.

My 2nd intercooler arrived today and thank god its the right one, also brought my SAFC today and thats on the way.

i ment turbo the normal 1.8 ba engine that it comes with. What wrong with his car JAM?[/quote]

Got elec issues, the sender from the ECU to the injectors opens then closes, resulting in the engine firing then stopping. No idea how to fix it at the moment. anyone know a good mobile car elec?

there was a guy who stuck a nissan T28 turbo on a 1.8BA on the American protege forums. I think his name was Twincam16, not too sure though. Ill try to find it and paste the link later.

THe problem is electrics yes, when the car tries to turn over the injectors open then close soon after

think it could be the fuel sensor

1997 mazda protege 1.5L 1489cc Stock motor, custom nissan 240sx tubular turbo manifold w/ mandrel tubing of 41mm in diameter welded to Z5 flange bolted to 38mm exhaust ports. custom downpipe to a catback magnaflow 2.0" exhaust. Garrett ball bearing gt2554r with 2.5" intercooler and bov. been running it for about a month now and need to invest in an e-Manage Ultimate and start tuning.
