I'm very much interested in changing the standard black gearknob to something a little more striking (silver) that has a similar shape (quite like the ergonomics of the existing one!). My first problem is working out hhow to remove the existing knob and the second problem is finding something that will work as a direct replacement. I'd be very grateful if somebody could poin this newbie in the right direction.

U can take off the gear knob by twisting the gear knob anti clock wise keep doing it and it will eventually come off.

u can by al sorts of gear knobs alot are universal too!!

The gear knob just twists off... first remove the gaytor from the knob, there is a plastic lip to pull it over, and then unscrew the gear knob.

Most gear knobs are universal, my momo one came with loads of different size rubber caps, which you fit into the new knob and then screw onto the shaft, which cuts the thread, so u just select the appropriate size cap for the diameter of the shaft... pretty easy job really, 3 minutes max!
