I think quite a few people have done this. Try having a search on the forum as someone might have some pictures or info on fitment on their car thread.

Some info on HIDs in the BA: http://www.club323f.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14003&p=190404&hilit=BA+HID+in+Projectors#p190404

thanks for the quick reply! i noticed that most of the mods are just replacing the halogen bulb with HID kits, however our halogen projector is not able to have the good projection compared to HID projectors. Thats is the reason i planning to replace the projector with HID projector.

You might be able to get a replacement clear glass projector lens which would make the light output better. Not sure if anyone makes a replacement or if it would have to be a custom job.

I also have HID headlights in the normal projector, but I have absolutely no trouble with it not being bright enough. It made a major improvement comparing the normal halogen bulbs. I also never had any trouble of blinding incoming traffic, no body flashed at me or anything. So I’d say the normal projectors are just fine for HID.

Why do you wanna replace the projector?

yeah was going to say maybe the HID kit that you bought is not a good one as everyone i know who has fitted HID's to a BA including myself have seen a massive improvement

currently using philips HID kit, it is a massive improvement compared to original halogen bulb. But, those who have a retrofit HID projector will know it will be even much brighter compared to our HID kit in Halogen projector. There is still a massive different between HID projector and halogen projector. Thats is what i am looking for. Thanks everyone for the reply :) :)

If you find some pictures, or change your own lenses and take pictures in the end, post them up here - will be interesting to the outcome.

Personally, I'm more than happy with my 35w HID kit. Better than most other cars I've been in, can't say I need the dipped beam any brighter.

I don't think Philips make an aftermarket fit HID kit...at least they didn't a few years ago, and had no intention of doing so :dontknow:

I am not so sure about your country but in Malaysia we do have philips selling HID kit. If the bulb is switched to the High beam reflector it seem fine. suspecting the lens is not transparent enough for the lights to projected out fully.

Sorry mate but are you talking about a BA here as you mention switching the bulb to HIGHBEAM ???? HIGHBEAM does not use the projector light, it uses a standard reflector light with glass lens.
To me you are putting across main and high beams in the one bulb (like old bulbs)?? BA's have a bulb for each light ,as you state when you switch to high beam it seams fine. I have HID's fitted both main and high on my 1.5 and the road lights up when high beam is on (like a football pitch), however on Lexi (my V6) she only has them fitted to dipped (main beam) and has standard halogens on high beam, when HIgh beam is on it really makes no differance as the HIDs are brighter, I only seem to get a sort of little yellow glow above the bright white which the HIDs are projecting. So this makes me think your talkng about one bulb which has both functions as the BA has two bulbs, either H3 &H1 or both H1.
I and including all members who have done the conversion have saw massive improvements in lighting.
I have 55w ballest which are better that 35w and provide 25% more light, but even 35w are 100% better than standard
Halogen bulbs as I kniw as my lasted BA has standard halogens fitted and I cant see f*** all.

I also have never heard of philips HIDs and if they are new then I would suggest they are shit.
Try sone other HIDs.
As for the projector kens there is nothing wrong with the BA lens and they produce they same light as most new projector lensed cars. I know this as I have fannied about with the lights and a set off Audi 2010 A4 lights when I was making my DRL setup.
BA projector are fibe , must be the philips kit as all members have had no complaibts about their kits.
Sorry to say but philips are shit anyway as I have had had bad experiences with their products. Same goes for Panasonic even tho they have nothing to do with auto stuff execpt stereos. Same with philips cone to think of it when have tgey dealt with car stuff except bulbs, which we ate discussing. Well enough said because their domestic bulbs are shit.
Get a decent kit mate and you will see the difference

We have Philips HID kits in the UK, but they are not genuine. Some are labelled Bosch too, made with the same components in China.
None of the big players make "universal" HID kits ;)

Thanks for the long reply. HID are definitely better than stock halogen bulb, but i wish to improve it further more. Going to try a set of koito ballast and see if the output is much better. Mine is 35w, heard 55w is much better but it is hard to find it here.

The only solution I can think of to your issue is to fit the projector lenses from a set of Bosch headlamps if you have Kioto lamps at the moment.

Beware, I got pulled on friday night in the 1.5 and got issued a £30 ticket for having them fitted.
After 30mins of arguing that they passed the MOT fitted 2 mobths ago and explaining I undetstood the new rules and what the MOT tester told me( they are legal on projector headlights if beam correctly alliged) he was having none of it and started coming out with a these daft codes that are stamoed on headlight. Apparently H1 is a trademak of Halogen headlight manufacturers and must have a halogen buld fitted. I explain tk the idiot that H1 was the bulb fitment type and that the H had f*** all to do with Haligen,he said it did and that xenon lights have xn1 stamped on them.
Anyway a little more arguging and him having none of it he then said the dipped beam (projector) were legal but my main beam (high) were not as they are not projector and that they will dazzle oncoming traffic
I replied that with full beam on anyway they would dazzle oncoming traffic to which then his silent partnet sniggered and stating , just take the ticket son.
As I was doing deliveries at the time and ths poor customers pizza was getting cold I took it stating that I wouldnt be paying it.
Was not traffic police. And the thing that pisses me off is the fact I use this BA 4 days a week doing deliveries and have passed loads of traffic cops every night and never been pjlled in 3 years for havinv the HIDS fitted.
Bastards but tgey did point out that halfrauds were doibg a SALE on those white halogen bjlbs that give the same blue tint as the HIDs but are legal. WANKERS
