Anybody any idea what an "Extractor Chamber" is for?

323 sport: There are inside the rear quarters behind the bumper - both sides. I wonder if its fuel related.

They are the filter type things shown in these pictures I grabbed from this site, taken during a rear arch repair.


My boot was leaking, I think I have sorted that but before I put it all back together again I stumbled upon these 'chambers' being another possible source of water ingress so wanted to rule them out as well.

Whilst I'm on has anyone got a pictorial guide for rear bumper removal. I have an exploded diagram, with instructions but its a bit pants. Any help most appreciated.

Naah.. they are for venting inside the car - passanger space..
When the blower is on they opened, leveling pressure and venting air..
