An idiot drove into my car when I was at midwife training with my girlfriend and ran away from it, so now I am standing here with a smashed bumper, and must therefore having it painted.

I'd like to paint my side mirror caps and rear spoiler, when I anyway going to the paint shop.
Since the spoiler is a bit white on the top, and my right side mirror is uncoated plastic color, as this is replaced, gues it was ran off before my time.

I expect maybe myself removing the bumper, to keep costs down and must anyway having corrected a bumper bracket if such one exists(?), as the bumber is pushed approx. ½ -1 cm under the rear light.

But now my question is whether mirror caps can be removed, or are they painted on? The same with the spoiler, can this be removed without problems?

are your mirrors electric or manual adjustment? the manual adjustment mirrors won't look right after painted because its is actually a very different design from the painted electric mirrors

the unpainted mirrors uses a single piece housing with textured plastic all around... the painted mirrors have smooth plastic on the painted portion and is a separate part that snaps into the actual housing, which is black textured plastic

they are made by different suppliers too

Both my mirrors are electric and heated, but checked anyway after you wrote - and you're right.

My right hand mirror (which I presume has been replaced) was more rough and dull on the surface, while my left mirror is completely smooth.
So I went to the local auto recycling and bought an other mirror cap, which was smooth and painted. They have sadly non black painted, but now the painter then get 2 identical mirror caps and paint

At the auto recycling I also found out how to remove the mirror caps.

So now only one question left: The rear spoiler, can this be removed without problems?

Yes mate, screws on from inside the bootlid

Yes. Ive removed mine afew times. Lift your tailgate and you'll see rubber bungs, remove them and this will reveal fixing nuts. Undo them and pull the spoiler off

You have to remove the glass to get the cap off.

Remove the glass by pushing it all the way in, in the side facing the door, now you schould be able to get a couple of fingers behind the glass, an gently pull it out. The glass is hold by 4 clips in the center of the glass so try to pull as close to the center as possible, so that the glass will not crack..

When the glass is off the cap is simply hold by 4 clips, that you need to push trought the housing, again be gentle these clips will easely crak off.
