Hi!

When i set the fan to high, i got all kinds of debris flying around, so i suspect i might not have a cabin filter at all.

I tried to find it, passenger side, like different guides around the web tells me, under the glove box, but... It does not look like in the guides on my car.

Is it located in a different place on a 95 v6 with ac, or am i just being blind?

Some cars did have a cabin filter, there's a slot on the underside of the plastic housing that protrudes down behind the interior dash plastics. You would be able to see it if you looked directly upwards from the footwell. The filter cap is a long oblong piece of plastic (maybe 4-6 inches long), you take it off and slide in the filters. If you have that fitted, it will be really obvious.

As Brucey says, not all cars had them. But apparently you can fit a filter to a non-filter vehicle if you cut a hole in the plastic (and presumably, if you can find a proper cap, and a box of filters).

I was going to fit this to my V6: I do have the filter cap, and a box of filters, but it turns out the filters are for a BJ, not a BA

I thought it was just a pollen filter, though; I didn't know it would also stop all the seeds & dead flies etc. coming at you through the vents.

Thanks for the replies, and yeah, i watched that video, but it just does not look like it. I found a place where i can order the filters (3 rectangular flat ones), but if i dont have anywhere to put them they wont do much good.

But could it really be that a, by 1995 years moneys worth, almost 50 000€ car came without a filter to remove dust and dead leaves and all kinds of stuff from flying around the cabin? It gets dusty sooo fast in there, and it really sucks when you want to keep a clean car.

You would also need the cap, otherwise one of the filters will fall out.

Can you please give me a link to the place where you can order the filters? I didn't think they were available any more!



Er ... yes A rare #MazdaFail. When I overhaul the 1.5 I'm going to see if it's possible to fit gauze over the cabin air intake, to stop all that crap ending up inside the car.

i get all my parts these days from Autodoc. They got almost eveything.
On the Swedish version of the website, i can enter my licence plate number and get stuff only for my car, but i noticed that was not the case of the ".co.uk" version of the site.

Anyway, they have many different brands, but the cheapest one has the number " J1343000 " and costs 5,5€ each, so 16.5€ total for all 3. ^_^

It's based in germany i beleive, and it takes about 1-2 weeks for the parts to arrive.
I ordered last monday, and today it reached Sweden, and will be shipped during monday/tuesday, and arrive probably tuesday or wednesday, so pretty cheap!

So, i just found this.

I'm gonna give that a try right away and let you guys know what i found out. Perhaps this is the case on the pre ford models as i initially suspected when i could not find mine. (Also, i think im looking for a filter that does not exist, as there is dust everywhere )

Allright, i went and gave it a look, and there is indeed some sort of filter housing behind the glove box. There was no filter however, so i can't be certain, but it looks like an hourglass, where the "base" of said hourglass shaped plastic filter housing is rectangular, and looks like somewhere a filter would go.

On the website that sells the filter, there is about 20 filters that are the 3-piece variant that does not exist on my car, but ONE looks like a square piece for some reason, and i'm now convinced that this is the filter i need.

it apparently fits something called a "Mazda 323p BA".

It's all very weird, but i'm gonna order one, and IF it fits, i'll write a guide on it here with some nice pictures and everything ^_^

Hi, here you can see the filter for a BA 3-piece one, you cannot mistake it for someting else.









I've pointed the direction of flow and drive direction for easy understanding.The 3 pieces ahve an order when you put them.First is the number one, you push it upwards and then to the front of the car,then is the 3-rd piece up and backwards, last is the middle 2-nd part wich is only upwards closing the gap between the other two,then you put the cap and enjoy no leafs and debrees in your face.
My wife's car had no air filter, but i managed to source one filter cap from a wrecked car and bought new filter for it.I cutted the box so the filter goes in and here you go, BA with cabin filter.
Don't order that thing, it's not for your car!

Yeah, i hear what you are saying, and i know that the one you posted pictures of is the one (3) that is supposed to be in the car, yet, that will just not fit in mine. Im sure of it!


It will be very interresting to find out if it does fit. Perhaps the original broke at some point, and they swapped it out for something else from a different car? Who knows, but Im wo stoked to see if it will work or not

I forgot to say, cars without A/C could be with different body type.As the filter is right infront of the A/C radiator inside the car.If the car haven't got it installed from factory there is one black plastic (looking like an hourglass shape) bodywich is just coupling the fan with the center console and heater matrix.
One of my friends here in Bulgaria(owning a 323P) have just that.
And to stop the debries, we simply removed the black coupling, and used womans tights for filter.
Works like a charm 4 years now.No flying leafs or so by now.

What you describe is spot on what mine looks like.

It goes from outside, at the windshield passenger side, to inside behind glove box, to the fan itself, then left towards the center console through this plastic hourglass looking thing that is, completely empty, but is shaped EXACTLY like it would fit the filter for the 323P, and then to the center console where it would get further distributed to whatever you would set the fan to.

I dint own this car from the start, so i have no idea what previous owners have done, but PERHAPS the ac is not factory fitted, even though it have an AC button that looks very much like it would be factory fitted.

The AC did, however never work, so other than there fact that there is aluminum tubing under the hood, i have no idea if it ever did work.

Back to the normal fan and filter story though, could it be that some early 323f's where fitted with the same fan-related parts as on the 323P?

If so, that makes much more sense why there is not a filter fitted, as the 323P is much more of a budget car than the 323f 2.0 V6 for 50 000€ would be. (I think, unless the 323P is plated with gold! )

Perhaps on later models, specifically those not produced by Ford, they would change it so that it came with the 3-Part filter solution that they are supposed to have according to the internet and everyone you ask.

Got the filter today, and it was a perfect fit.
So, either, The very early 323fs got this solution, or someone changed it to a 323p version afterwards.

Either way, The housing is stamped 1994, so it is early either way. Posting a guide with pictures in the correct section later on. Will link to it from this post too in case someone needs the info in the future!
