I currently have 205/45/17 and am lowered on 40mm springs. The ride is honestly to harsh for me and the roads around here are crap too. I am thinking of going back to stock and embracing the retro 90s look

I would need to source oem wheels as my car didn't have them when I got it. I've seen 5 spoke 14s off mx5/323f and quite like them, also seen 15s off an mx5 which I wouldn't mind. Sidewall of those would be 65/60 around that I think. What would the ride be like if I were to get a set of those and go back to my stock springs? Aswell as handling but not too fussed about performance on this car anymore

Hi
The stock size for a pre-Ford BA 1500 5door is 175/70 x 13. The option was 185/60 x 14 , which was also standard on the 1800.
Your current wheels are already 7% away from that!
Some of the special editions had 185/65 x 14.

Hi. I have a 1.8 BA that I have fitted with 15" Eunos MX5 alloys. They are 5 spoke with a tyre size of 195/50/R15 and the car rides quite well. I didn't notice a difference between them and the 14" steelies it started out with. Hope this somewhat helped.
