Hi new to this forum, I am fixing my friends 1997 323f 1.8 The car started pulling to the right so I took off the left wheel and the calliper was not working, took it off the piston looked sized the only way to move it was let some fluid out, decided to get a new calliper, it arrived took off flexible pipe and fluid came out then nothing, put foot on brakes, hard pedal. Great I thought then undone flexible hose at the body some fluid came out so got a new pipe undone the old flexi and hey presto fluid came out then stopped, pedal still hard. Got to ABS unit undone pipe to that wheel more break fluid then it stopped pedal still hard. I am now thinking I should change the ABS unit does anybody know how I can test that valve without dismantling the rest of the unit. Thanks Tony |

Welcome to the club Does the pedal actually move at all? If it's completely solid, it could be a broken master cylinder or something? So rather than the fluid being stuck, maybe the pedal is actually mechanically stuck just an idea!

Hi thanks, but forgot to say I have bleed the right hand calliper cloudy fluid came out so not been changed for a while, I also checked the fluid to the ABS and let the master cylinder drain most of the way. Stuck ABS valve but so hard to check no warning lights on the dash, but can I fix it or do I just have to get a second hand one not easy to find at a reasonable price. |

Oh right, fair enough, not the pedal then! ![]() Where are you based? I still have all the ABS piping and valve sat in the track car waiting to be stripped out ![]() If you're local, you could always try swapping it for mine to see if it makes a difference

Hi ABS unit arrived today was a bit of a pain to fit, I had to take the gearbox mount off. Screwing the brake pipes in was a pain as well. Rear cylinders were old so replaced them too. Bled the system twice and had all brakes working again. Hope this helps someone in the future.
