I am going to change my clutch soon, and need a guide.

Do i have to drop the engine out of the car?

I personally would take it to a garage if you don't know how to do it, The potential is there for so much to go wrong. . . .

Yes, it helps a lot, although you can get away with just supporting it in situ with and engine hoist ar bar, if you do though, make sure you have the support centred before you completey remove the mounts because if it twists while you're working on it is a proper git to get the gearbox lined back up, if you can get the use of a 2 post hoist, do it! :)

Its a difficuult job (I did it on my 1.5, theres a lot of stuff to do. I did it without removing the engine and had to tilt the engine to remove the gearbox.

At the end of the day, much easier and quicker to remove the motor, and when trying to get the gearbox back on, if you dont have a spigot shaft to align the clutch plate, you could battle big time.

If you are not used to this type of thing, and sounds like you arnt, I would agree with Stuz, get it to a workshop to do.

It's tricky enough with the engine out the car. Me and a mate struggled for a good 10-15mins getting the gearbox attached to the engine, and that was with the engine on a proper stand. I sure wouldn't want to do it with the engine in the car.

How hard is that to do? Not done one before but I've helped when I worked at a peugeot garage, and do msot stuff on my car myself.
