Wet head lining and passenger footwell..Tried to unblock front sunroof drains (from top) with 2.5mm copper wire.As suggested in a forum on here.

Found that i could hear wire rattling down A pillar(passenger side),which suggested drain hose had come off.

This is how i tackled it..

1)Remove all fixtures on head lining, and drop rear seats.

2)Take out 2x plastic clips from strip at back where head lining meets top of hatch/boot.Then from back of car pull strip out and down clear of rubber seal.

3)Pull down metal tabs x2.(Red in picture)

4)From top pull out A pillar covers.

5)Open covers on front seatbelts +unbolt with 17mm spanner.

6)Remove plastic clip and pull out bottom trim on B pillar.

7)Remove rest of trim pulling from top.

8)Tease out black plastic clip enough to carefully release head lining.

9)Remove plastic clip to top right/left hand side,of boot lining.

10)Remove cover off rear seat belts, and undo using 17mm spanner, carefully remove out of hole.(mine had a plastic retaining clip on end of thread when out). Holding various spacers/washers in place,if not make a note which order they go.

11)Pull up and out side upholstery to rear, leaving attached to bottom.

12)Take out plastic clip where C pillar trim meets boot lining.

13)Tease door seal tab off clip.

14)Remove C pillar trim, pulling from top with care.
Tease out black clip to carefully release headlining.

15)Pull down top of door seal+feed lining out ,running finger along seal.

16)Remove trim around sunroof /blind area.

17)Free headlining away from sunroof area, pulling out and down where attached to roof structure.

18)Finally sit on folded rear seats/boot,put hand between lining and roof pressing down and pulling towards rear with other hand.
Remove through boot.

CASE SOLVED!!
Front passenger side drain hose is off the connection.

Took the opportunity to flush all four drains, water comes out behind wheel arch linings.

Re-fit hoses.

Cleaned head lining, left to dry and re-fitted in reverse order next morning.

About 4 hours to do job.

About 20 hours to do guide.....

If you are still awake....!!

Got some pics of sunroof motor.

The sunroofs sliding blind is housed inside framework, which is bolted on...

A worthwhile diy fix saving £££'s  ...

And found out what goes on above headlining..

brill mate, was planning to eventually take out the headlining to reupholster my sunroof blind, but the only thing stopping me was I thought the headlining removal would be difficult.

One question though, may wanna add how exactly you remove the sunroof blind surround.

If you mean sunroof/blind area trim .. that comes away easily.

If your'e asking about how to get blind out...thats one for you to explore after headlining is out.

was asking about the blind trim thing....

but another thought, is the blind itself attached to the sunroof or headlining?

Cheers

blind is housed within sunroof gubbings.

Not as difficult as you think.Constant fogging on the inside of the car, was my motivation.

The guide is fairly comprehensive, making the job perhaps seem tough.

Time and patience will see you through.. :D

just a heads up, i printed this giude out because my sunroof leaks and I wanted to get to the bottom of it and discovered my sunroof was completely different about an hour in. no tubes at all. I have a '96 1.5 figaro. maybe my sunroof is aftermarket or something - not sure. also my sunroof edge trim is all plastic whereas yours seems to be fabric.

good guide for those it does apply to - thanks anyway!!! :D

BA factory-fitted sunroofs are lovely for the occasional sunny day we get in the UK. Here's some pics that might help you tackle yours

This is what the sunroof fixes to. It's a frame welded to the roof with captured bold studs along the front and brackets at the sides, so the sunroof can be bolted on

Here's a close-up of some of the captured bolt studs (front UK drivers side)

Then there are some mounting brackets that bolt on to the roof here

and here

(NB the shiny nuts are nothing to do with the sunroof - they hold the roof-rack mounts which are accessible under plastic clips at the sides of the roof)

The sunroof mount that is welded onto to underside of the roof looks like this close up - you can see the lip which the sunroof fits into

Here is the sunroof in place so you can see how it is bolted to the roof

This is the headlining which accomodates the sunroof

Here's the sunroof being lowered out of the hole - again, notice the lip which is part of the framework welded under the roof

Close up of some of the mounting bolts that hold the sunroof to the roof. Note the brackets which the sunroof is bolted to - these brackets also unbolt from the roof

Here is the sunroof motor, which is part of the sunroof assembly

And here is the sunroof entirely removed from the car. You can also see one of the mounting brackets that unbolt from the car

At each corner there are pipes which carry water down and out into the wheel arches (no pics sorry)
