| Post subject: | Security key light? |
Hi all. Just bought a 1995 model 323f, it was stolen/recovered and has the original key with it (althought got ignition damage) but when I start the car the security light comes on and the engine cuts out! Its is odviously not reading the key, I'm getting a lock set for it but want to drive the car before first spending too much money on it. Is there any way of getting the immobilizer to read the key without having a new key programed to the ECU? Any help would be greatly received.
Many Thanks. Allan |

There is a coder built into the key body, which is why it is so thick - and why copies don't work. This sounds like a garage job, but paid for by whoever sold you the vehicle! M |
