Hey guys, have a question 'bout identifying a part...
It so happens a part is cracked on one side and I'm looking for a replacement. The thing is - I don't know what that part is exactly, so I'm attaching a screen taken from Mazda's diagrams:

Reference: part no. 20-600. The rated price is 546,62 EUR; so would ANYONE tell me what that is and why it's so expensive.... :roll:

No idea it looks like the exhaust header to cat down pipe, but its way to short.

...Looking it up on our E.P.C (Electronic Parts Catalogue)The reference you have is Called a 'D' Code and it seems to be 20 500 and not a 6.
These are used to clarify specicifc Parts found on Mazda Cars covering Engines to Wheels.
Well believe it or not its a Catalytic Converter, look...

It's the catalyst! For example for the Z5 p.n.: Z5B6-20-600A, jup 600A, you read right!
But in general 20-500A, a bit confuse :wink:

On the F-Section in the BA Workshop Manual you can see it.

Do you have the EPC? Which one, EuroEPC1?
I've got only the PC, it's very pedestrian...

...I work for Mazda. Parts Advisor at the Distribution Centre in Kent, England. So have access to the whole system for every Mazda going UK/Jap Spec etc etc. But not for long, as I am moving onto Toyota.

So, it's a catalytic converter... *damn* Hmm, no wonder it's expensive...

Still, I don't think 500+ € is a "fair" price, don't you? :wink:

No that is not the catalytic converter.

The cat is under the car

Could it be a MAF sensor? (manifold air flow)

I've read that, the Protege has a primary cat, and for some countries/sates they have a seconadry cat that sits under the front seats in the exhaust (as ours do). So could it be this primary cat?
