Hi guys been ages since I was on here cos the old v6 has been running like a clock but it’s failed it’s test on lighting issues but they are sorted apart from one so the question is

HOW DO YOU ACCESS THE INDICATOR SIDE REPEATER TO CHANGE THE BULB?

IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOU HAVE TO JACK UP THE FRONT REMOVE THE FRONT WHEEL REMOVE THE DOZEN ODD PLASTIC SCREWS AND REMOVE THE PLASTIC INNER ARCH SHIELD THEN YOU CAN REMOVE THE BULB AND RELACE EVERYTHING.

Am I correct i have five days to fix and retest HELPPPPPPPPPPPP.

Hey Col, welcome back :)

Push backwards on the lens of the light unit (towards the back of the car) and then the entire unit will pull out sideways from the wing. The whole light unit will still be attached to the power cable.

You don't need to unplug the unit from the cable. Just hold the back of the unit with one hand and twist the lens part with the other, and the lens part will come off. The bulb will be attached to the end of the cable (don't let the cable fall back inside the wing).

Change the bulb, and then reverse the above.

Here's a current (Sep 2022) eBay auction for a side repeater, which has good photos of the back so you can see what I mean.

Hi Serenas thanks for the info unfortunately I should have posted this before I began trying to remove the plastic splash guard and removing the wheel to access the screw near the suspension unit. The wing and indicator lens was damaged by a rampant industrial wheelie bin in that last lot of tornado type weather in March 21 due to the bin man not applying the wheel brakes after emptying it and when I removed the unit the retaining part broke off so I have bought the actual item you sent me a pic of hoping it will arrive before my last retest day 28th.Thanks again for the lead.

Ouch indeed - I had a gate blow into my BA wing and now it's got a gate-shaped ding. If your new repeater doesn't arrive in time, you can wedge the old one in just for the MOT. Maybe some gaffer tape behind, or some folded paper stuffed in with it. The MOT bod shouldn't wiggle it, just check it's there and working. If the orange plastic is cracked, just pop an orange bulb in. Even colour it in with orange felt tip if it's an emergency. So long as there's no white showing though any cracks, it should pass the MOT. I know the worry though - you only get one retest and you want it to be right! If you're near Hemel (M1 J8) your welcome to swing by and pick up a spare side repeater I have. Anyway all the best for the test
