Got a problem with the fag lighter. The actual cigarette lighter works ok, heats up and glows etc. But when I stick in an adaptor for say my phone (or minifridge) they dont work. Briefly on occassion the fone wil light up for less than a second then, nothing. The green surround of the 'hole' also doesnt light up.... which i dont know if it should, or if this is connected to the problem.... Anyone know.... or can help?!!

Get a new one. Or alternatively, you could get it out and check the wiring. I think you have to remove the surrounding dash to get to it though. |

By getting a new one im going to have to get the surrounding off anyway to fx it am i not... So surrounds coming off no matter what........ ? |

green surround only comes on with side lights. bstard job to replace lighter though |

i had this prob in a previous car (cavalier). if you look inside the lighter you`ll see 2 spring clips that hold the lighter in when you push it. you could try levering these out a bit with a small screwdriver (gently). this might give a better connection. also try cleaning inside the lighter with a stiff brush, like a toothbrush. if you use colgate it`ll smell lovely!!!! good luck
