| Post subject: | re - badging and dual exit exhausts |
OK just 2 questions: 1. I have a '97 1.8 "astina" but it still has all the old mazda emblem badges, i want to replace them with the newer version - should this be easy. As part of this whole procedure i want to replace my standard steering wheel with one from a newer mazda, do all mazda steering wheels fit the same way? (I'm hoping that it'll be possible to fit an RX8 wheel - Airbags and stereo controls aren't important) 2. On this sites main page is a link to "cars", one of the cars, on that page is owned by a guy named Tony from Australia. His '95 has dual exit exhaust pipes, how was this done? Appreciate the help ghost |

Yep, That's just how it's done! I've had mine done, got to: http://uk.photos.groups.yahoo.com/group ... %26.view=t or look in the Yahoo group photo albumns for: tannerma2002 > Power_Flow_Exhaust_Full.jpg note: I've since had the tail pipes shortened, so it doesn't look like a wheel barrow anymore! There's at least one issue with having this done though - You might need to trim a bit off of the back box heatsheild next to the extra tail pipe - it's only a ten second job (litterally). Mark |

The badges and exhaust are easy to sort. You've had the exhaust job pretty much explained, my version was also done by a Powerflow dealer. As for the badges, you'd have to either find a late spec 323f in a scrappy, or get some new badges from a dealer. Either way they're pretty much push fit with a 'butterfly' on the rear 'legs' - bit like an ear ring. Saying that you'd have to strip the back end of the car to do it. As for an RX8 steering wheel - I think you've more chance of platting snot! Aftermarket wheels are one thing, but why not just buy the RX8? (might be as cheap as just getting the wheel as a spare part!) Richardesty |

Just had the badges changed on my car but did'nt get the proper mazda badges as I was told by mazda the new badges would not fit plush into the insets on the car as they are smaller on the older model so mazda recommended I got slightly smaller badges. Also for the proper badge you would have to drill new holes in the front and rear of the car but I did'nt particuarly want to do this incase I cocked it up so I got sticky back ones.I had to position the badges slightly lower to cover the holes for the old badges but still looks perfect and with my private plate it looks newer :P Price was another thing being £27 for real badges and £14 for mine |

That's interesting Denzil, So where did you get hold of the sticky badges from, and did you just take Mazdas word for it on the actual badges or did they just not fit. I've been thinking of doing the same to mine, as again with a personal plate it would hide the cars age....... Rich |

Ghost, Tip for ya... Get your exhaust done somewhere local - there's a good chance you'll have to go back to get 'issues' sorted. Also, you might want to avoid wide tailpipes like mine. Just my experience. Mark |

Yeh, I took mazda's word but did look at a newer 323 first to see how much different it was to mine. I tried breakers first of all to get the proper badges and see if I could doctor them, but each one I phoned seemed to have no interest for some reason. I got my badges at the Mazda dealership in Hexham. I shall have a look and see if I still have the little bags the badges come in cos they have the part code on but I have a funny feeling I threw them out (only got them 2 weeks ago). |

Sorry Richardesty, I can't find them so must of threw them, I just did'nt think
I would say just go to a dealers and ask for badges the same size as yours that stick on. Looks just as good as the real badges for the car + they where cheaper which is'nt a bad thing. Just sorry I hav'nt got the part code |
