Hallo, my clutch has died a death after only 13000 miles on it, I partially blame my heavy right foot, and swift left foot, and the garage I used to change the clutch, dodgy place, recommended by my own father!
Anyway! I've been in contact with a guy at Exedy UK for about 3 weeks, hes trying to get hold of the heavy duty (sports) clutch "MZK6547HD" from the Aussie part of Exedy (formerly Daikin). He has so far helped me create a UK code for it and going to try and import it as an official UK product soon but has mentioned that no one else has requested for it. The UK item number will be:"MZK2083HD". This is a kit that will provide more clamping force than the standard item, but has a standard 'feel' to it (similiar force when pushing down the clutch pedal). According to the guy, the organic disc is standard, but the assembly/pressure is designed to take on more torque and power that the standard issue version ("MZK6547"). Another issue though, there are two sets of clutches for our BA 323fs/Astinas/Lantis 1.5/1.8ltr (not sure about the V6), the 94-96 models had a 220mm disc, and the 96-98 had changed to the 200mm disc that I am sourcing out. All the Exedy product codes I've listed here are for the 200mm clutch items! But they also do clutch kits for the 220 cars out there. Fiasco!
I recieved an email from the man at Exedy yesterday. Hes going to finalise the price, and delivery time from Australia, but has quoted a possible £238 +VAT & DEL. I know I can get a standard item by EBC for £80, but I like my 323f to move a bit quicker than normal for a bit longer!
http://www.tdi-plc.com/ are fantastic people, I took my 323f there last week. Expensive, but very proffessional. Quoted about £200 for the clutch change, but I need to do the timing belt, servicing etc too. There is almost no limit to what they can do, but then the limit is pretty much how deep your wallet goes! It's £80/hr to go with them! ... They can re-build the entire top-end and lots of the bottom-end with TODA items for a lotta money! Hmm, TODA even makes uprated timing belts, a normal one costs about £20, TODA sells em for around £120!
I digress! Yes! Soon, an uprated clutch will exist for us!
