I think he means for when you want to put a rear facing child seat on the front seat - you don't want the air bag going off and hitting the the back of the child seat. Mark |

No, its not a requirement of the MOT, loads of other manufacturers have a system to switch off the passenger air bag......the later models of 323 have a sensor in the seat, you have to buy mazda's own child car seat which switches off the air bag. There must be a way..... |

I suggest you phone a Mazda Dealer - probably the best option, am sure there will be a safety turn off switch somewhere for when you are working near the impact zones, ie repairing or refitting. Cos you wouldnt want it to go off by accident now would you |

Contacted Mazda.... I have to buy a Mazda baby car seat which has a "thing" in it which switches off the air bag.... They will switch it off but I have to get a leagal document stating I'm an idiot (or words to that effect) before they'll touch it. The bloke did say you could just pull out a connector but if I had a crash and the insurance company found they would remove my testies ! John |

But if you had a crash and the airbag injured you're kid...... There's got to be a way through this - I don't have to worry about it YET, but will be handy to know. Mark |

The Mazda answer is to buy a Mazda car seat...... Trouble is I've allready got a non-mazda one.....kid in the back then Peugeot's have a key'd lock (much the same as the child lock on the door) which you can switch it off/on....trouble is I don't like peugeot's
